… It doesn’t matter whether he uttered in a negative way, and positive way because God has no situation, I was very young kid and in our village there was a guy who used to get drunk and abuse God and very dirty abuses you can't believe it, and it used to freak out everybody. So when I became little adult, I was seventeen and one day village people decided that he should be asked not to come in the village because it effects kids very badly. So, but we used to like him, he was a nice man, calm and person, good personality, so I walked unto him one day and I said, “Baba, I want to talk to you.”

He said, “What do you want to talk?”

I said, “Why you abuse God?”

He said, “What it matters, God needs attention, so I give Him attention, I give Him through abuses, you people chant His holy name, of (?) it works the same way.”

And I said, “Well, that is very true, God needs attention and you give Him more attention than anybody but people on the earth are freaking out and that is what they don’t understand and it is a balance between earth and ether.”

He said, “All right, what do you want?”

I said, “What, I don’t want anything, I want to know one thing, do you love us?”

He said, “I love you, (?) when you are little boy I used to take you on my shoulder and run around and why not, I love you, why should I carry you otherwise?

I said, “(?) carry another thing, don’t abuse because they are going to not let you come and see us.”

He said, “Okay kid, for you I won’t.”

So he will say, “Hey God, I am not going to abuse you, you damn God, I am going to tell you are very good, because people don’t let me see my kids,” but he will indirectly became softer, and the village people very happy about it.

Our concept of God is almost neurotic, we think God is a everywhere, we don’t believe it, we do all funny things in spite of that, we think we belong to Krishna, Rama, God knows gama, pama, tama and we do all that whole nonsense but we don’t belong to anybody because we don’t belong to ourself.

We want to say that we love God and we trust God and all that which is a fundamental lie because we don’t trust ourself and truth is that whenever we are tested we fail as a human being what to take up divine people and the greatest neurotic people are spiritual leaders, they are the worst in the company because their main idea is to, they run it like a business, students and money and how to run their show and it’s a, it’s a quite a big business and I understand, being a administrative head of it I know I almost change my pen every month to just sign those checks which I do not know from where they come and where they go.

So I understand those really who understand where they come and go must go nuts. So it is not that easy. You people have a very different understanding about God, God is very simple, generating, organizing and destroying total capacity and the center of God is to organize. This is a balance between earth and ether. It is fortunate on my part as a individual because I am religious and administrative head of a organization, so as a religious head I enjoy life and administrative head I feel that same pain.

When my financial secretary comes in, “YogiYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. JiJi Soul; used as an endearment or sign of respect. , five thousand dollar are short, how you are going to meet it?” I look towards the sky but when I come and teach somewhere and I feel good, I feel I have served people, I feel happy about it, so it is a imbalance and balance in life, it goes like a wave, life is like that but somewhere some good people find the center of that wave, very center of that wave, they feel good about it.

In our life sex plays the most important part and everything to us is as simple that with sex there is no life, without sex there is no life. Some people try to make you celibate, and then you have wet dreams and some people try you to give you free sex and you totally shrink in that capacity. It’s a very funny world, I met a very holy man once and it’s unfortunate on my part the God gave me an eye, which can see the unseen in a person. So we were trying to decide a things and we were sitting and joking about, and we were very happy atmosphere and he finally asked me a question, “Are you married or you a Brahmachari?”

I said, “I am not only married but I had a good intercourse and I have three children out of it.” As you know my style is very blunt, so when he became very personal, you know I become very naked, that is my, that’s my routine, so I can't change it, I have never changed myself, because there are two alternates for you, either you changed or you change the time, there is no in between. Those who go in between are just nowhere and in my whole life I have never changed, I know how to break, I do not have learned how to bend, so there are certain personality they go either way. So I told him, I said, “Well, I have three kids, how about you?”

He said, “ha, ha hare Ram, hare Ram, you know, how can I do that, I am a sanayasi.”

I said, “Last night you had a wet dream, you intercourse with your neighbor’s daughter and you ejaculated, is that true or not?” Now what he can say, I said, “If you say no, then I am going to tell you all these things in the presence of your entire (?) and I have come (?) exact on time, space, millimeter to millimeter.”

He said, “Listen, I am, I am sorry I became personal with and you know, that is the end of (?) I, I, it is true, what you are saying is right.”

I said, “Your mind is impure, your mind was unclean, you rape your own neighbor’s daughter and you call yourself a holy man, you have no control on your holes and you are totally a nonsense.”

Word is BrahmaBrahma The Hindu God of creation, one the three primary manifestations of God. Chari; BrahmaBrahma The Hindu God of creation, one the three primary manifestations of God. means God, achar means the action. Whose action are like divine and what are those divine action, there are three divine action-give, and forget, give and forget, it becomes forgive, that’s one, give and forget means forgive, most difficult thing. In America now, there is a problem with my most immediate council and myself, they say, “YogiYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. JiJi Soul; used as an endearment or sign of respect. , you forgive everybody and this way we people can't love, (?) they repeat the mistake again and again,” you understand, they are now trying to teach me forgiveness is no good. This is America, American culture. Now I am a silly sikh person, I have brought up in Indian culture where first fundamental is, if you are a human being you must forgive.

You understand? So it is a very crossroad, you can't, you can't even reconcile this temperament. Second temperament is, love is a one way traffic. For you love is a hook, I love you, you are wonderful, go in bed, have marriage, all that jazz you spin around love is totally sexual and sensual, it has no reality. For us love doesn’t mean a thing except sacrifice. We have absolutely no understanding with love, love is, if I can sacrifice for him, I am in love with him, if I can't, I am not, period.

No discussion, if I can tolerate her nuisance and can make no sense out of it but still tolerate it and my sense allows me to tolerate it, I am in love with her, that’s it. Anything else doesn’t mean a thing to us, and that’s very divine. That’s a (?) and third is, speak direct, because mother nature and creative God speaks to you direct and these are the most fundamental difficult task which a person has to relate to, you understand the aspect of life? Aspect of life is very clear, there is no shadow-ness, no cloudiness in your life.

Why you have problem as human beings, because you don’t live by yourself and don’t you live by your ego, you live by your ultra ego. So when a person who live by a shadow of shadow, what you can expect of that person. Krishna, Krishna, Krishna, Krishna, you don’t know what Krishna means.

KaraKara Steel bracelet; one of the Five K's worn by baptized Sikhs. shuna, kar means the greater action, kar a, where, shun, shun means zero, stops na, where the all creative action starts, that’s infinity. Now that mean Krishna. Worshiping Krishna and not creating (?) qualities of Krishna is as ridiculous as a holy man who thinks you have given up everything in the world and then counts how many people have given how much money, you understand, have you seen those kind of crazy people. Now relate the aspect of Rama, Ra-e-ma, ra means the sun, I means who creates it and ma means chandrama, moon, who creates the moon and the sun, it is a simple word. Allah, aa a la, a means come, la means go, who creates the coming and going.

Now you want to take a something and want to make a message, (?) because you just want to create a territory. I see my little dog, he goes out and pees on every tree, I mean no dog can pee that much, there are two hundred trees. I know it is not the quality of the dog and I know this little terrier can’t do that but still he goes little (?) and one day my secretary told me, “YogiYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. JiJi Soul; used as an endearment or sign of respect. , he seems to be sick.”

I said, “Not sick, he is marking his territory.”

That’s the quality of us. Our animal nature makes us to mark the territory, our divine nature is a part of the universe, we don’t need any territory, can you believe eight years ago I came, I never told people I am a yogiYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. , I never told I have any religion, I (?) anything, okay, and still I do the same thing. I have maximum student, I have more riches, I have the highest powerful organization, I have the whole bunk which you need. You understand and still I say I have nothing. My idea to come here and prove to the spiritual world was that genuinity is not limited. You know, one president can be of America, there can’t be two president of America, right, one has to win, one has to lose but in spiritual world you can be twenty holy men, who cares. You do your number, somebody has to do his number, third one do his number, as many people you say… Some people ask me, “What is your opinion about some spiritual person?”

I say, “I have no opinion, I am not his teacher, I have no opinion. I am not his student, I have no opinion, so how can I give opinion?” His teacher should give opinion about him or a student should give opinion about him, what the hell I have to give opinion, why you want to drag me into controversy for nothing. You know, when you live straight, you talk straight, you enjoy the straightness of life, then everything looks straight to you, but when you live complicated, you talk complicated, you go round and round, I will take to you Allah, fool, you have never gone yourself, how the hell you are going to Allah, it’s a very simple problem.

Catholic used to do this funny thing, you give in the name of Jesus five million dollars and put this whole thing (?) and you will have a beautiful dome in the heavens and ask them, have they seen those heaven, is there domes in the heaven. There is a problem with all human beings, the main problem is, we are part of infinity, therefore, we can't forget infinity. It is very in core in us, normally people come and ask me, “Sir, I want to study with you.”

I say, “Look (?) do you have a fare to go or not?”

Sometime they say, “No, I spend all my money to come.”

I say, “Where you want to go next?”

“San Francisco.”

I say, “Here are twenty dollars, take a plane ticket and go to San Francisco, why to waste time with me?”

“No sir, I want to study with you.”

I say, “Those who have to do study with me, they don’t come and ask me I want to study with you, there is a (?) class, go and attend it.”

It’s a very freeway, our discipline is very accurate, it is very defined, it’s very free, come in, like it, be there, don’t like, get out, we never close our door, we don’t initiate anybody, we don’t keep anything secret, we don’t charge anybody anything. Our simple way is, there is a amount, x amount for x amount of activity and that’s the way we are, that’s the way we were, that’s the way we are going to be. Some people say, “YogiYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. JiJi Soul; used as an endearment or sign of respect. , I love your studies, I love to love you but it’s very difficult to belong to 3HO.”

Yes folks, it is difficult, we do not know what is inside you but at outside you can't commit, commit yourself, why we feel that you have tendency to commit inside and why should we cater to your neurosis, why we should go with your fantasy, why should go with your whole lifestyle, why at all we should work for you when you are not work for yourself and one thing folks, ultra ego is the ultra ego, ego we can tolerate but ultra ego is just writing in the air, Hari om, hari om, somebody was writing and some said read it, he said, “What should I read, I don’t know what you are writing?” Ultra is ego, is the ego of the ego, that’s what everybody imaginates(imagines), and in this imagination he creates the imagination as reality and then lives by it, isn’t that funny.

Spiritual world is a very, very wonderful world but it’s very difficult world. It is as simple as truth is, it is as complicated as lie is. We are subject to space and time, and we have space and time, we have it because we must live, until we don’t die, we are master of the space and time and so long we live, we are subject to space and time, what I am saying is, within that space and time, either you make it or you don’t, that is how it goes. There is one God, there is one truth and that is one way only; whether you are a Sufi, Sikh, Muslim, Hindu, Christian, I don’t care, in my consciousnessConsciousness The nature of the self and being. In the realm of nature, awareness becomes consciousness. It is from the being itself. Being is expressed in consciousness through contrasts and sensations, in awareness through merger, clarity, and reality. I don’t care, cars are car so long they run and within the speed limit and in the lane and in right direction, they make it, if not, they don’t.

These brands you have got I am a Sufi, then (?) you are a Volkswagen, I am a Christian, then you are a Impala and somebody is a (?) and somebody is a (?) and somebody is just, but I have seen, you know, big car, ninety thousand car going and I have also seen two hundred dollars car going but anybody who cross the trap of GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. It can be a person, a teaching, or in its most subtle form - the Word. ’s gets the ticket, it is not implied that ninety thousand that new car which Rolls Royce has made can cross through the red line, where Volkswagen can't, there is no such thing. As much gas you give to a Volkswagen, it can make up, up to sixty, seventy, whatever (?) capacity it has got, it’s good capacity but before you go over fifty five, you should be ready for a policeman call.

So life is very simple, rules are very simple, truth is very simple, teaching is very simple, teachers are very simple. Some can make it and understand, some wants to love the complications of things. Mostly spiritual people study spirituality for ego, mostly, and 3HO people are not excluded of that, mind you, in spite of our hard discipline and our absolute freedom, we have problems. Our people do not understand how precious discipline they have got, they don’t understand, they think they are one of the thing, you know, all right why one of the thing, because sometime you get into this way of life, you feel so good about it, you do not know what you are doing. There is no comparison, a person sitting in the car does not know what he is doing but standing on the highway knows what a powerful rush of power energy is going around. Therefore every discipline has a certain do’s and don’ts. Every highway has a certain speed limit, certain red light, certain green light, certain system, so there are lot of systems, so there are lot of systems.

When I was a young kid, I study religions. First religion I studied was Christianity, because it was easy, then after that I study is Hinduism, then I studied Buddhism, then I studied mystic aspect of all these three great religions, then I went to Shinto and all those kind of far east religion, then I studied Islam, end up to Sufism, from Sufism I studied Sikh religion and I in the end found out everybody is selling cakes, this is what I found out. You do not know, sometime I never tell you my personal life, seven years I moved in India from holy man to holy man to find out how they behave.

I came out, I wrote my report, I said, “They are very accurate standard businessmen, who sell and buy God at their rates.”

This was my genuine report and I got such a reprimand comment back, “What are you talking about, you have wasted so much money and so much time and these three lines means the whole thing?”

I said, “Then what else I should write?”

“What about the holy men who have gone on the top of mountains and they have got all occult powers?”

I said, “The crack-jack,” you know what is crack-jack? That (?) which brings the buildings up, I said, “It has more power, it, it can take a whole (?) of steel and take it up, it has more power than those guys. If powers are going to decide, then BrahmaBrahma The Hindu God of creation, one the three primary manifestations of God. press has a power, it can squeeze anything into nothing.” I said, “I, I didn’t go to study powers, I want to go and study how a wholesomeness prevails in the little creature known as human being.”

Do you understand what I am trying to tell you? To me, a very emotional person, who is trying to be good is more holy than holy man who is helping him to become good, because a holy man who is a holy, who is trying to make somebody holy is doing a professional job because he lives by it, but God knows, whom he is making holy, how holy he is going to become, because a professor, teacher, a student, nobody knows that, that professor who teaches that student, tomorrow morning becomes president of that same country and professor may retire just a professor from that college. So we forget realities and we forget aspects of infinity. The most complicated thing in this whole relationship is from this finite creature, there is a possibility or it has a capacity to experience the infinite, which we reduced very much by branding ourself this and that and once you brand yourself, then live it. Either be a commoner, don’t try to be special, if you try to be special, then live it.

Once a student of ours in 3HO came and he said, “I am going to leave 3HO.”

I said, “Thank you very much.”

He said, “You don’t want to retain me?”

I said, “One burden short, you know, who cares, you know one, one neurosis less, we, we don’t live off you, you live off us, thank you very much for this decision, go.”

And he said, “Where?”

I said, “To hell.”

“Why you say that?”

I said, “What other is the place?”

“I don’t understand, you mean there is no other way?”

I said, “For you, there is no way because you couldn’t practice your first commitment; how rotten we are is immaterial but you are the most rotten because you couldn’t even make your commitment go through through this rotten discipline, all right, now you understand it?”

He said, “That is what it means?”

I said, “Yes, that is what it means.”

Policemen are human being but they are committed to righteousness, they are not righteous, they are more corrupt in most of the areas but when you see a policeman you always feel that he is a committed person. I said, “My concept and your concept can differ but my concept is very clean to you, go ahead if you have to go ahead.”

All individual have the right to search their area, search their place, search their commitment, it is not the joy or displeasure of anybody, but if somehow finally somebody has found out that, that is his way, then we should go all the way to find where it takes us.

Yesterday there was a question, most of the people couldn’t come, I said, “Well, let all the people who wants to come should come.” Normally on spiritual discourses very few people come, they are not very popular, very few people are open, even open, in any consideration for their inner being. Majority of the people, you know, this sitarist, what is his name? (?).

Students: Ravi Shankar.

YB: Ravi Shankar, now if you make here a recital of Ravi Shankar you can collect entire (?), because there is no commitment, you come, you listen to the music, you enjoy, you get high, you feel good, that’s it, but if Ravi Shankar makes it compulsory that when you come, you listen to his music, you pay eight dollars plus next time when he comes you have to show how much you have learned sitar, see how many come, five, three, two, ten.

Mostly, people are very afraid of one area–commitment; reason for non commitment is the ignorance, they are not sure, they cannot be sure because they are not sure of themselves. Do you understand, it’s as simple as that, don’t try to find God, see if God can find you.

I remember of a woman, she once told me, “YogiYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. JiJi Soul; used as an endearment or sign of respect. I love you very much, now I have served three years, I feel I am very committed, I am very all right.”

I look around, she had a child in her lap. I pulled the child from one leg and raised it head down, legs up, she yelled at me, “What are you doing?” she pushed me and took the child away.

She said, “God, you are terrible.”

I looked around and I said, “Thank you, I have not to do much to understand your commitment.”

She said, “What was it?”

I said, “It was nothing, I wanted to know how much you love me and how much you trust me and how much you are committed.”

She said, “This is not the way to put the child head down, legs up.”

I said, “Remember when he was declared dead in the hospital, you told me to pray and I said in one hour he will get up, don’t take him to mortuary, remember he is the same child?”

She said, “Yes,” she said, “Okay, (?) you definitely remember.”

This is our commitment, this is our love and this is our trust. In this world of ours, we have two faces, one face to get and one face to give, give, all of us have the same problem and no man can confront godliness until he has one face, you can't confront one God without one face, for that you require discipline, I am not saying to you, that you should hurry up and merge your two faces into one but when you have two faces it’s called duality, it is called MayaMaya The creative power of the Creator that restricts and limits. It creates the sense of limitation that leads us to identify with experience, the ego, and things. Because of this it is often thought of as the illusion that blocks us from the spirit. But, as Guru Nanak (see Sikh Gurus) reminds us, you need not be attached to the productions of maya. Instead they can be used to serve and express the higher consciousness and spirit. Maya is simply Karta Purkh, the doing of the Great Being. Maya takes the ineffable into the realm of the measurable. , it is called ignorance, it is called non commitment, it’s called everything but when you have one face, then you don’t find God, God lives in you.

So in few words I have said what I have to say and I am going to listen what you have to say, if anybody wants to say anything, you are most welcome and you are free.

Student: (-------)

YB: No there is no other way without discipline, there has to be a teacher who should give you discipline, then that teacher should have the capacity to test your discipline. You are no use to follow a discipline, if you are not tested in that discipline, it’s useless, it is just going to university without examination.

Student: (-------)

YB: It is such a lie, it is such a lie, which only corrupt spiritual people advocate, it is the highest corruption mentally, it is the highest mental corruption, there is no more corruption than this.

Student: (-------)

YB: No, no, no, I am, I am telling you what you are telling me, you listen to me, people who teach discipline and later on they pretend that they have gone beyond that discipline are the highest corrupt people in this spiritual world.

They founded the discipline and they couldn’t live all there life to it, and they feel they have redeemed themselves, it is the most negate, I, I am not finding any good word, corruption is even not good, it is dirtiest of the dirtiest of the dirtiest act, it is just like corrupt parents who teach children discipline and live absolute different, you understand, there is no such thing, if you are that good, you will not be in the body, you will go to God, what are you sitting here for, what I am sitting here for? It’s a karmaKarma The law of cause and effect applied to mental, moral, and physical actions. Ego attaches us to and identifies us with objects, feelings, and thoughts. These attachments create a bias toward certain lines of action. Instead of acting you begin reacting. Karmas are the conditions required in order to balance or complete these tendencies. Though necessary, karma is not dictatorial or fatalistic. It is the mechanism that allows the finite experience of existence to maintain and stabilize itself. We all have free will and can take actions to re-direct the momentum of a karma. We can transform it or neutralize it using meditation, jappa, good deeds, or intuition that remove your sense of ego and the identification with that past line of action. , cause and effect keep us here, no teacher is exempt from discipline.

Student: (?) discipline finds you?

YB: It works both way, sometime discipline find you, sometime you find discipline, but without discipline you can never be a disciple, as a disciple you cannot be a disciple, you can never be a master and if you are no master you will always look to the mystery, where there is a mystery there is no mastery but there is no mastery, there is no infinity and that’s how it goes and this is one cycle, this is one formula which applies to everything.

Every slave is a master, if you don’t become a perfect slave, you can never become a perfect master, those who cannot command, cannot be commanded, those who cannot be commanded, cannot command. I have two dogs, they are pet of me, right, I am their master. Who is the real master? They are my master. I am not theirs, they get sick, they don’t do anything for me damn it, I end up paying their bill, so who is the master, they or me? That little cat of mine, that white cat, which was given to me because it was all broken bones, I don’t know somebody just did it and to a white cat and she brought it to the Hacienda de Guru Ram Das , The Ashram The grounds of Yogi Bhajan's traditional home and ranch in Espanola, NM, as well the surrounding businesses, gurdwara and langar hall. ashramHacienda de Guru Ram Das , The Ashram The grounds of Yogi Bhajan's traditional home and ranch in Espanola, NM, as well the surrounding businesses, gurdwara and langar hall. Ashram , Aashram A community of practitioners who come together to live conscious, mindful lives. so we kept it, now that cat has no other place but my lap to sleep.

Now I am working and doing my job, he jumps, sits here sleeps and after I finish the work, I look around, the guy is sleeping, so I keep sitting, I don’t want to disturb his sleep and it sometime take two hours and I am bound down, I can't believe, then I say well, all right, bring some other work, I will do it here, I don’t want this nonsense to get up and be bothered, now tell me who is the master and who is the slave, me or that cat?

And this is a natural law, it is nobody’s problem, it is a simple problem, you have to look at it from the very prospect of it.

Student: (-------)

YB: It is always a combination of polarity, nobody is beyond polarity, even God is not beyond the polarity. Every master is a slave, every slave is a master, every child is a father, every father is a child. Simply, our ego makes us boast too much and make us blind and we don’t see the reality.

Student: In our life when I become aware of my own ego, my own passion, anger, when anger comes up, I find it difficult to deal with that, I, I found the question of whether I express the anger really strongly get it out or I suppress the anger?

YB: It has two aspects; if you are angry at somebody when he has done wrong, moment that anger shows up, be grateful that it was not you, it was some other person, something goes wrong which makes you mad, you understand that.

Student: Yeah,

YB: Okay, then should make you grateful to God that it was not you, it’s somebody else but if you find something wrong with you, you want to get mad, go at yourself, do you want to slap somebody slap your own cheek, it is nobody’s problem, you go on slapping your cheeks all your life but anger is a our faculty, we must have anger. You can't get rid of anger, if you can get rid of anger, then it means, you get rid of agni Granthi, the fire element in you, if you have no fire you are dead. Only dead men don’t get angry.

Five tattvasTattvas A category of cosmic existence; a stage of reality or being; a "thatness" of differentiated qualities. In total there are 36 tattvas. Each wave of differentiation has its own rules and structure. The final five tattvas are called the gross elements and have the phasic qualities and relationships of ether, air, fire, water, and earth. you are made of, five elements or five faculties, you can't get rid of any faculty, you can channelize it, it’s a brainwashing of the eastern religion which is a neurotic, get rid of; get rid of what, you can't get rid of, you are made by that, how can you get rid of those elements? You know, you are just jugglers, you always like to find goodies, you know, cookies, powers. Oh that guy touched me and healed me, then what, what is the big deal? Oh he prayed for me, he did this. Oh he did this, that’s his business. Some people praise too much and become expert in prayers, some don’t, but those who can make them prayer are also expert in making others to pray for them, so there is no big difference. Life is a cause and effect, sequence and consequences.

Student: (-------)

YB: Get out, oh you can't… Teacher is not a person, teacher is in the teachings, if you like the teaching you can like the discipline, fine, if you don’t, person doesn’t matter to you, who teaches is immaterial, that has got no relationship, somebody brought (?) say it is spiritual business, it’s exactly going on here.

You serve your ego more, then you serve anything of your spirit because somebody brought you, somebody hooked you into it, somebody you feel committed, you can’t get out of it. In our 3HO when we see somebody getting off the teaching, we take off his turban, take him off. We don’t like him to tell him on his face. Law of discrimination is applicable to all disciple. You know, it is not a university where you go on staying there for as you will, after a while, when you see person is not progress….

Last year, we did the trimming quite big guys were removed, they were just told goodbye, people who have been in 3HO for seven, eight years, who were the pioneer, who were considered the stone, basic weightlifters of the organization, they told goodbye, because they stop progressing further, they thought they are redeemed, they are liberated. One guy didn’t show up as a big teacher, as a regional teacher, in his sadhanaSadhana , Saadhana A spiritual discipline; the early morning practice of yoga, meditation, and other spiritual exercises. The Aquarian Sadhana can be an individual or group practice; Ideally, it includes the recitation of Japji Sahib, a Kundalini Yoga kriya, and chanting the Aquarian Sadhana meditations, immediately followed by Gurdwara. According to Yogi Bhajan, the potency of any Kundalini Yoga and meditation practice will be enhanced in a group setting. , for exact ninety days in continuous, when he was monitoring. He started spreading word, you know, he is now above everything, and one fine day he found the letters that he is relived of all his responsibilities.

Student: (?) ultra ego is the most negative (?) cosmic ego.

YB: No, no, ultra ego is the most negative of cosmic ego. Egos shadow, your personality has a ego which is your shadow existence in polarity, and then your ego shadow has another shadow which is ultra ego.

Student: (-------)How to recognize?

YB: Oh when you, when you think the imagination of your individual imagination is reality, that is because of ultra ego. If I still think I am a holy man, it’s a ultra ego, because that’s my thinking, whether I am or I am not, let people understand it, yes JiJi Soul; used as an endearment or sign of respect. .

YB: Now that is the state of most humility, that is what they call is service of desiringly desire less ness, lovingly love less ness, painfully painlessness, you know, it is and it is not.

Student: What is state of samadhiSamadhi The state of consciousness in which the mind is free from reacting to thought waves. ?

YB: State of samadhiSamadhi The state of consciousness in which the mind is free from reacting to thought waves. is absolute when, when you when have no relationship with the tattvasTattvas A category of cosmic existence; a stage of reality or being; a "thatness" of differentiated qualities. In total there are 36 tattvas. Each wave of differentiation has its own rules and structure. The final five tattvas are called the gross elements and have the phasic qualities and relationships of ether, air, fire, water, and earth. , there is a state of unna samadhiSamadhi The state of consciousness in which the mind is free from reacting to thought waves. , little less than samadhiSamadhi The state of consciousness in which the mind is free from reacting to thought waves. you are dead and alive. ‘Jeevan mukth,’ you are alive but you are still dead, you don’t react to tattvasTattvas A category of cosmic existence; a stage of reality or being; a "thatness" of differentiated qualities. In total there are 36 tattvas. Each wave of differentiation has its own rules and structure. The final five tattvas are called the gross elements and have the phasic qualities and relationships of ether, air, fire, water, and earth. because you are a consolidated tattva in itself, you don’t react to anger because you are a, you are a anger, you don’t react to greed because you are a greed, you don’t react to lust because you are the lust, ether, air, fire, water, earth, you are, you are, therefore you don’t react, that is the mastery. When you have the mastery on the tattvasTattvas A category of cosmic existence; a stage of reality or being; a "thatness" of differentiated qualities. In total there are 36 tattvas. Each wave of differentiation has its own rules and structure. The final five tattvas are called the gross elements and have the phasic qualities and relationships of ether, air, fire, water, and earth. , because you are part of the tattvasTattvas A category of cosmic existence; a stage of reality or being; a "thatness" of differentiated qualities. I know it is difficult for me to teach that much but it is not difficult, because this will take a physical toll, I am unhealthy, most of the time I am under pressure, whatever you want to call it, right, I just don’t react to it, I keep going, doctors tell me, “You will die soon,” I say, “Thank you, it’s okay.”

Student: (------)

YB: No, no, it is not that way also. You know, I, I, I look at this. Sometime my staff does wrong things, right? I pretend I am very angry. I pretend that I am so angry I scare them to death. And on the next minute I pick up a telephone and I say “Hey, are you going to go with me to eat pizza?” They can’t understand, they are very confused most of the time. Or anything, “Let us go for a party or to anything.” They can’t understand, this guy who was yelling and screaming three minutes ago and now inviting to a party.

Yelling and screaming was for that wrong. It has no connection with stomach. (?) something which was just meant for head only has nothing to do with stomach. So why to, why to relate to that? And it’s very difficult for a normal person, my, I am telling you I have found it in my own life, they get very confused. They do not know which way to go. They feel I am very great mystic, I, I am not. I am very simple person. You do wrong, I tell you it is wrong, when you do right, I tell you it is right. They can’t understand how a person who three minutes ago who was telling it is all horrible, in two minutes saying you are wonderful. So they are confused between horrible and wonderful.

Actually law of polarity is, sometime you are horrible, sometime you are wonderful. And my accuracy is I see it very clear. And it’s my thankless job also to say them so. So I do my job, I don’t do anything more than that. So life is very confusing, when you are on earth, you have to be earth. But on the earth you have to have the understanding of ether too. And that’s the right connection. Get it through any discipline, it’s wonderful. Because nothing can make you happy. Only your self can.

‘Homey Vadda Rog Hei, Daaru Bhi Iss Samaay.’

Ego is the biggest disease, and it has the solution in it too. Without ego you can’t commit. With ego you can’t commit. So use ego for commitment and use ego to become egoless.

You know, iron is a iron but you make a tool out of the iron to cut the iron also. And that’s the (?). It’s a very simple law.

There was a one student, he went to a sage and said, “Sir, I want to learn how to be pure.”

He said, “All right, see me after twelve years and tell me what is impure. Go.”

So he went away and after twelve years he came back and he told the sage what is impure.

He said, “Sir, one should not lie, one should not prostitute, one should not steal, one should not, one should not. He gave the entire detail list.

The sage said, “Very good. That is what is impure?”

He said, “Yes sir.”

He said, “Don’t do it.”

And that is pure. So (?) why to waste time?

You know, in our 3HO way of life we don’t teach a person directly. People come and start studying. And we definitely know at one stage of time, when they come and join us, that is Sarampad. Sarampad when you come under the protection of the teaching. Then the second stage of consciousnessConsciousness The nature of the self and being. In the realm of nature, awareness becomes consciousness. It is from the being itself. Being is expressed in consciousness through contrasts and sensations, in awareness through merger, clarity, and reality. is the Karampad, when they do, they do what they are supposed to do. Third stage is, Shaktipad, when they are going to freak out. And that is where we come in play. And if they cross Shaktipad, then it is Sehajpad, they will feel smoothness and then in Satpad they will feel the truth. So it’s a technically well involved system. So we never worry when a student leaves. We know either he will leave or he will stay. If he leave he was not meant to stay. If he stay he will never leave again then. Because Shaktipad is, when they will…

Come on, come on, come on. Wow. (?), hello. You know everybody came silently he came, started ringing the bell. Yes.

Student: (------)

YB: How. I know your question before even you said it. You think there is a something impossible? Do you feel that?

Student: (------)

YB: No, no, I am just going to grind in you so heavy that you (?) forget it. You know, I am a ironsmith man, I am not a goldsmith, I don’t do tch-tch-tch-tch for rest of my life. I make horseshoe, not ornaments, okay. You think there is something impossible in this world which you can’t do?

Student: (------)

YB: Yeah, you, you, you, in person. That’s very personal question of mine to you. Is there something impossible? You have paper and pencil? Paper and a pencil?

Student: Do I have a paper and pencil?

YB: Yeah. Get paper and pencil. (?). Now let her get it, what are you get it, tomorrow she’ll go before God, you will answer for her? (?).

All right? Now come here. (?) fine, sit down. Write the word impossible. Block letters. Go ahead. It is right? You check out the spellings are right? Yeah. All right. Now take the pen and cut down those unnecessary words I-M. And see what is remaining. That you have to do my dear in life. With that ego which you have, cut down the I-M which is extra and possible will be possible. Because possible, if what is impossible can, impossible contain possible in it. Dis-ease, dis-ease contain ease in it. Insanity contain sanity in it, so don’t worry. As woman contains man in it.

I was talking today the word blessing. If you just split it, it is b-less-ing. When you feel too big, just be little less and it’s a blessing. Got the answer? Remember it. Use it. Then there will be nothing impossible for you. Whatever is impossible, cut down the im and see what is remaining.

Thank God that I am alive, I could tell you this, you knew it already, though. It’s a reminder. A spiritual teacher or a holy man is just nothing but a reminder. It re-mind the mind to re-member in memory the memorial of the memorable. Nothing more. Truth is known all over the world, so we don’t repeat it most often. So one guy takes it (?), he remember himself, he feels good, he makes other to do it and that’s how it goes. That is what they call is law of life. Law of life, Patit, Patita is such a principle of sacred law, that without its knowledge nobody can redeem himself; with it, it is difficult to live, so if one has to create balance.

Yes, my dear.

Student: If (?) exists (?) that (?) there is mastery…

YB: Why not? Why not you react?

Student: Well, I don’t understand, I don’t (?) understand why not, I don’t understand…

YBs: You have a lot of purpose when you know that greed is a bad thing and you don’t react to greed for yourself but you do react to help others not to get into the clutches of the greed.

Student: How should one assess a progress?

YB: Progress can be assessed very easily. Progress is assessed, spiritual progress assessed always in the face of temptation. Simple. When there is twenty gold coin sitting on the road, you want to know whether you out of MayaMaya The creative power of the Creator that restricts and limits. Maya takes the ineffable into the realm of the measurable. or not, see whether you pick it up or not. If you don’t pick up, fine. If you pick it up and deposit it with such a agency which can reach it to possible where it can be, that is super fine. If you pick up and deposit with the agency where it can reach and then put a ad in the newspaper that ‘I so and so have found twenty gold coins on road and (?) such and such, I have deposited with police station such and such,’ and those who know that they have lost it, they go and claim, it is super fine.

Your progress can be known from your action and from your reactions to your action. I didn’t had anything special extra to teach in America, I only come with one situation that I am very stable and I taught everybody stability. That’s all. There is only nothing, (?) 3HO way of life is nothing but total stability. We never ask a person “where you have gone wrong.” We say “all right, we have found it out you are wrong, now let us see how quickly you can get out of it,” that’s all. When person is out of it we say “(?) you are at your own, go ahead. We’ll be with you when you do another wrong.” Because I found it out in United State of America, there is no family and no stability and there is no commitment, people are window-shoppers, they go place to place, person to person and they are real junkies. Really. They don’t care. No woman care for husband, no boy cares for (?) family. They all think they can be on welfare, they can be in foster homes, they can go one place to another person, they don’t worry about it. They are too moving. Gardish, Gardish. That’s the spiritual word, in Gardishe YamYam Yam/Niyams "do's and don'ts; the ethical precepts defined by Patanjali. Tera Shukriya. This movement of the stars, this is a very popular saying Gardishe YamYam Yam/Niyams "do's and don'ts; the ethical precepts defined by Patanjali. Tera Shukriya, Merey Harban Tera Shukriya.

Oh God, your grace is (?) Shukriya. Shukriya means salutation, thank you. Gardish. Gardishe YamYam Yam/Niyams "do's and don'ts; the ethical precepts defined by Patanjali. Tera Shukriya. All this movement which keeps everything going, grateful for that because it is going. But once you feel this is it and then you stick to it, then you will know how difficult it is. Harder it becomes easy you feel, you are progressing. That’s (?).

I remember one day I was walking in Canada and I, somebody stole my one shoe. My, my feet are such it is very difficult to get a shoe for them. So, my secretary told me, she said, “My God, we don’t have shoes for you.” She went and tried somewhere but they didn’t work well. She said, “What we’ll do?”

I said, “Don’t worry, we had a newspaper this morning.”

She said, “Yes.”

I said, “I’ll make the shoe of the newspaper.”

So I turned the newspaper and took those (?) around it and made a kind of slipper out of it. put it on my feet. She said, “You'll go to meet that guy in this?”

I said, “Why not? After all this is a paper shoe. Made by me, much beautiful and comfortable.”

She said, “But it won’t look good.”

I said, “Don’t worry, once I go and talk to him, I’ll look very good. (?) that it’s okay, but I don’t want to walk on the snow and you know, freeze my feet.”

Yes.

Student: When one is on a path of practice and trying to burn the past SamskarasSamskaras Patterns of behavior brought from past lives. , like Patanjali says that through meditationMeditation Dhyan. It is a process of deep concentration or merger into an object or a state of consciousness. Meditation releases reactions and unconscious habits and build the spontaneous and intuitive link to awareness itself. (?) is there any limit as to how much one has to meditate (?)…

YB: No, when you meditate, and when you are in meditationMeditation Dhyan. It is a process of deep concentration or merger into an object or a state of consciousness. Meditation releases reactions and unconscious habits and build the spontaneous and intuitive link to awareness itself. , all the dirty thoughts come at that time. Just don’t relate to them, let them pass (?). You know, two hundred people come to kill you. And you are standing before a window and when somebody come and attack you, you let him pass by you and with the sword he goes right out of the window, you understand what I mean, and his sword goes right into this stomach, you can kill two hundred and still you are alive. Don’t let a thought become a desire until it is positive. That’s, that’s the whole trick. Once your thought becomes an emotion, and then become a desire, you have no way to get out of it. Intellect releases the thought, let the thought go.

There are two most powerful in this earth. thought and God. Because God is a thought too. But you as a human being has the most powerful of all, that is the will. You have the will to accept the thought or reject the thought. That’s your beauty, otherwise you are nut. But once you accept the thought, it becomes a desire. It becomes your emotion. Then you can’t help, you have to go through the whole KarmaKarma The law of cause and effect applied to mental, moral, and physical actions. We can transform it or neutralize it using meditation, jappa, good deeds, or intuition that remove your sense of ego and the identification with that past line of action. . Nothing can save you. That’s why you need a teacher, spiritual teacher because that’s the one man as a another man. You are a man and he is another man. And when you get to a desire, you know desire, you can’t stop at that and you come to your teacher, he says, “I have desire,” he says shut up. (?) desire dies. Your ego can’t hold it because once you hold to ego and desire, you have to cross the teacher. Moment you cross the teacher you are doomed forever, you know you can’t take the risk, you go back.

Spiritual teacher is nothing but a brake. It go (?) and that’s it. You are dead stopped. Accident is saved. Bad brake is as terrible as committing suicide. Spiritual teacher has to be a thankless unemotional umpire or referee. Because it’s very tragic when a spiritual teacher gets involved with your ego. Bas, you are doomed. Then you cannot be saved. Because that’s one man who can save you and that man is not only dead for you, you are going under the hill and he is already pushing you, so who can save you. Your motor doesn’t stop, your gear doesn’t change and your brake fails, is there any chance going down the hill to be safe? Because spiritual teacher we don’t have from him to learn, not at all. From spiritual teacher we don’t learn. We learn out of our own devotion. From him we learn nothing. He is our taskmaster. Everybody learns from, ‘Bij MantraMantra Sounds or words that tune or control the mind. Man means mind. Tra-ng is the wave or movement of the mind. Mantra is a wave, a repetition of sound and rhythm that directs or controls the mind. When you recite a mantra you have impact through the meridian points in the mouth, through its meaning, through its pattern of energy, through its rhythm, and through its naad - energetic shape in time. Recited correctly a mantra will activate areas of the nervous system and brain and allow you to shift your state and the perceptual vision or energetic ability associated with it. Sarb Ko Gian,’ the very seed of us knows what learning is. So we don’t learn from anybody but he is one human being who won’t let you go if you are not supposed to go.

Student: In India even though everyone does not have a spiritual teacher, seems like average person is much more (?) and more able to (?).

YB: Everybody has, in India survey said eighty five people, eighty five percent of all Indians have one or other the spiritual teacher.

Student: Is that why they are able to control their desires…

YB: Are you kidding? The India in spite of its all economic failures and in spite of all its poverty, in spite of all its slavery, in spite of all the treachery the Indians go through, two thousand years of slavery man and that culture still stands pure. You, who kept it pure? These spiritual people. Can in India you afford to cross a spiritual teacher? So?

I remember when our spiritual teacher used to come in our house, God, we used to stand up as school inspector has come in school. Those (?) everybody (?). And even I remember my father used to come and say, “Bhajan, look, look, look, Santji has come, we have to be absolutely all right.”

I said, “Why?”

He said, “Wait a minute, if you find not all right, he finds you not all right,” rather when we used to bug our father, the only way we used to do is not to come up in the morning to the GurdwaraGurdwara Literally the door of the Guru; traditional place where Sikh worship services are held. . And Santji said, “Why Bhajan has not come? Call him.”

So I’ll go. Why didn’t you come today?”

I said, “Well, Papaji doesn’t come, sometime doesn’t show up.”

And he’ll call my father, “Kartar, you don’t come to GurdwaraGurdwara Literally the door of the Guru; traditional place where Sikh worship services are held. ?”

“Oh no sir, that, one day I didn’t show up because I have to go…”

“What do you mean (?) one day (?) show up?”

We caught him right to the (?) you know. My reacting.

He will go in the kitchen, see what is being cooked, see how servants are clean, he will call on servant asking them how you people feel.

My, my God it was (?) I tell you honestly it was a school inspection, perfect for all reasons. He’ll go in the community and check how this family is, have you heard anything about. My God, I, remember still.

Here, who cares? Today you go to Khanka you become a Sufi, tomorrow you go 3HO ashramAshram , Aashram A community of practitioners who come together to live conscious, mindful lives. , if that doesn’t work, then go to the Jehovah witnesses, if that doesn’t work, go to Hare Krishna, if that doesn’t work, then somewhere it will work. If nothing work, go on changing everything and (?) that way it works.

Student: Is, is worldly as this country is, (?).

YB: Me?

Student: This country is…

YB: It has become a, it has become a skunk land and I have to cut that tail, that’s my job, this is how I look at it. I don’t know how you look at it. It has become such a egocentric, idiotic mission here, nobody cares for anybody. There is a potential, I am not denying the potential but look what we are living at. Look at our average rate of happiness. Don’t look at our per capita income, that’s earth. Look at our mental value, look at our insanity, look what we are doing. Balance that. Because balance is between physical and mental equilibrium. Look at our rate of our mental equilibrium, you will be wonder struck. Our, our rate of suicide has gone up, our mental rate has gone so much, we don’t have mental hospital to hold people. Our properties of insanity are increasing. There is a tremendous work to be done. It’s not that easy. So don’t misunderstand that here.

I feel, this is how I feel personally, how it is right or wrong. Such people are being drawn to this side of the continent just to work. The way I work, some can’t work that way, the way other works, I can’t work that way, so, each one has having some facility and some faculty. Everybody doing something. So long it helps a little bit, it’s good.

Most of the time certain people come in the Hacienda de Guru Ram Das , The Ashram The grounds of Yogi Bhajan's traditional home and ranch in Espanola, NM, as well the surrounding businesses, gurdwara and langar hall. ashramHacienda de Guru Ram Das , The Ashram The grounds of Yogi Bhajan's traditional home and ranch in Espanola, NM, as well the surrounding businesses, gurdwara and langar hall. Ashram , Aashram A community of practitioners who come together to live conscious, mindful lives. , they say, “Well, we want to study,” and I’ll say “Well, sorry, you are not ready for this discipline, you just go and join and be (?) SwamiSwami Master. Satchidananda or SwamiSwami Master. (?) or you don’t like that join the Sufi order, (?).”

I was on back of the Sufi for almost four years and I am still not gone (?). It is not that I loves everybody or hate everybody, it is a matter of principle. You know, I feel one who calls himself Sufi, at least should try to be hundred percent pure. Because once in discussion with one of a Sufi (?) he said “But spirit is free.”

I said, “Then why to keep it in this body, here is the knife, cut off your neck, free your spirit right now in my presence. And I’ll read the Kalma on you.”

He freaked out. That’s not. Action must be very pure. They should be pure and they should look pure. And it worked, my pressure worked. I have, I have put a knowingly (?) pressure, I am not denying it.

I am looking for (?). Not saying I don’t pressurize, (?) you believe me or not. I poked him more than I even poke my students. Sometime they wonder what is this guy have to do with us.

I know what I have to do with them. I want them to be good Sufis, that’s all, I have got no axe to grind. I have nothing to take from them. It doesn’t bother me. But I am always on their back, that’s one group which I am on back, I won’t let them go safe. Because in the Siri GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. It can be a person, a teaching, or in its most subtle form - the Word. GranthGranth Literally: knot: book. , where we bow every morning, every (?) there are teaching of the Sufi saints. You know. And we know those teachings. And we know how pure and powerful they are. They are contained right there. I have no disciple anyway, what do I care? So things are very free with me.

You know, I tell you funniest thing. In southern California, I am member of the interreligious council, and as a head of the religion I was supposed to give what they call is, last day my remarks, in that conference and within that conference I found it out that poor Swamiji of our Vedanta society, they poked him too much, Heathen, Heathen, Heathen, Heathen, you know, because they worship those idols, Hindus worship idols. So they poked that guy, on everything he spoke they told him, you know, “You are, you just stone worshipper, you are this and that.” I watched that tragedy for three days. And I didn’t like it. I said, “All right baby, I’ll let you know final day.” So final day they asked me my experience. I stand up and I said, “Mr. president, this is the house of Jesus Christ, and before him I say, I am the most happiest and luckiest person to be a Heathen. God, I can elevate the stone to the Godhood which you can’t understand.” And I said, “I want to record it.”

I tell you those wooden chairs shrank two inches right under their buttocks. They never believed.

Later on that president came and apologized. He said, “We are sorry, we should have controlled this.”

I said, “What you people are talking about? You do not understand Hindu DharmaDharma A path of righteous living. It is both an ideal of virtue and a path of action that is infused with clear awareness and comprised of actions that are the soul in total synchrony with the universe. It is action without reaction or karma. , you do not understand ABC of it. You are a bunch of craps who do not know what you are talking about. Jesus Christ is the only savior, everybody else goes to hell.” I said, “That’s what you want to talk to me?”

He said, “No, no, no, we don’t mean that.”

I said, “Look at that guy. He worship a ideal, through a idol. His imagination is that even God is in the stone.” I said, “Don’t put down anybody. Don’t try to be that clever.”

He said, “No, no, no, next time in next convention we assure you, you know, we are not going to do anything like that.”

I said, “Thank you.”

It’s the same thing when a one Khalifa, I forget his name, he was very popular among the Muslims. He said, “Hazi Haq, Haratha Ka Farisht; we are the truth, everybody else is a non-truth, kill them.”

Took fifty thousand people as followers, got on the horseback, one, two, left, right, whosoever come, ‘are you a Muslim?”, “No,” “Do you believe in Allah?”, “No, chop up.”

Like those crusade, in the name of Jesus Christ, go anybody who is not Christian, flat. These are the tyrannies of religion. Religion is a very personal thing, to elevate one’s consciousnessConsciousness The nature of the self and being. In the realm of nature, awareness becomes consciousness. It is from the being itself. Being is expressed in consciousness through contrasts and sensations, in awareness through merger, clarity, and reality. . And congregation is where the help is available. When you start becoming political in the name of religion, dash-dash-dash, then it’s terrible. Too much earth, too much dust, doesn’t work that way.

So, what we are timing now?

Student: (------)

YB: Good. Give you twenty more minutes, then we start meditating, right. Doing good job.

Okay, I am going to go away tomorrow, if you have not said anything to me, or want to inquire anything, go ahead.

Yes, yes, go ahead, say, whatever you want to say, don’t stop.

Student: (?) spiritual growth (?) physical sensations (?) and if so, (?).

YB: No, it works both ways. I remember there was a one man, he fell in love with a girl and the girl belonged to a spiritual group and he was a atheist. For the love of that girl he became very theist and finally that girl left the group and she left and he became a great teacher. Who knows? Sometime physical lead to spiritual, sometime spiritual lead to physical. Channelize both ways.

Hmm.

Student: It is true that (?)

YB: Don’t be afraid, I am not going to give you paper and pencil, feel free.

Student: (?) we all say there is only one, usually we don’t know the experience. If we know the experience, (?) whatever (?) you know (?) and in another place we see that there is pain in the universe (?) in some pocket that (?) how can all (?).

YB: Oneness, oneness never has the pain, duality is never painless. Simple law.

Two thieves are not in pain. Two thieves are not in pain. But when one goes and tell the authorities that that is a thief, then becomes painful. Between two there is a God, between three there is a government. Then the law has to prevail. Not individuals. Between two whatever you do, nobody bothers, it’s between you two. When, when it comes to three, then the case has to refer for judgment, then it’s the right case for judgment, then it must be judged on the principle of oneness.

All teaching means to bring to oneness. Because in oneness lies the happiness.

Yes.

Student: In some of the traditions that (?) from India to America, they have (?)…

YB: I tell you what it is. You are ready to listen it, it is a hard thing to listen.

When a Indian come here, he is very insecure whether he is a spiritual teacher, he is almost a puppet in the hand of a sponsoror and he is very much amazed at this MayaMaya The creative power of the Creator that restricts and limits. Maya takes the ineffable into the realm of the measurable. , and he is very insecure here. Because I know, I came from India, and individually I am very secure person. And I came under very secure environments. You know I had my visa when I came and everything, so I have not to go through any nonsense. But in spite of that, I still do not know in Los Angeles after living eight years which road goes where. You understand? If you ask me to drive to such and such place, I say, “Well, you take me, I don’t know where to go.” In temperament, I am a American now. I am a citizen of this country but you can never make me a temperamentally American.

So people who come here in this country from India, they are not sure who is who. And old policy in India was that don’t teach the teaching who don’t deserve it. You understand? And specially Americans cannot be trusted with teachings. You give them two inches, they make six inches out of it and start their own Guruship, they are very good at it. And they do not know, for example, Tantric yoga cannot be taught and cannot be learned, it’s a white tantric. Once you can, it, because it takes you from the interlock of the neurosis of the subconscious of the personality, right, it has to be under the guidance of a Mahan tantricMahan Tantric A Master of White Tantric Yoga. This title and function was bestowed upon Yogi Bhajan in 1971. There is only one Mahan Tantric alive on the earth at any one time. . So one of our student who was also our teacher of KundaliniKundalini Comes from the word "kundal"; coiled energy; the creative potential of an individual. Kundalini Yoga It is a Raaj Yoga that creates vitality in the body, balance in the mind, and openness to the spirit. It is used by the householder, busy in the world, to create immediate clarity. The fourth Guru in the Sikh tradition, Guru Ram Das, was acknowledged as the greatest Raaj Yogi. (See Raaj Yogi.) He opened this long secret tradition to all. And somebody telephoned me and said, “Well, this is happening.”

I said, “Right, very good, it’s nice. I wanted somebody to do it.”

They said, “Why?”

I said, “Well, you’ll see it (?) sometime later.”

After three months one day he was teaching a group and he was fixing this eye and it got so interlocked he couldn’t see. He became totally blind on the spot. Then he went to a doctor and doctor examined his eyes, he said, “You are all right,” he couldn’t find why he cannot see. Then he realized he called me on the phone, I said, “Don’t worry, tell yourself you have learned a lesson and release your self, redeem yourself.” Five, six days when he started hitting against the walls, (?) he understood the law of obedience is law of progress. He was released, he started seeing again.

Having no personal power to remove the interlocks, if you get to in any personality what you get, problems. That is why, to protect certain areas it was said the things should be kept secret, only deserving people should get it. It doesn’t matter. Individual world is always private, it is always secret, it is always sacred. That’s why we always say open your mouth, it will be filled, ask the question, we give you the answer. Don’t ask the question, go to hell, heavens, it is your choice, not mine. It is no privilege of mine as a teacher to cross into your individual world because you have been given individual world by your Creator. I can serve it, can’t possess it. Then I am competing with the one who possesses it already, who possesses me. Follow? That’s a simple law.

That’s why in every spiritual world student has to ask before he can be told or if student has to be told, it should be told and left alone to fault. Because either you can learn from your teacher or you can learn from the time which is the master teacher of everybody anyway. That’s how it is.

Student: (-----)

YB: You mean freeway?

Student: (?) how do you (?) off the path and what happens (?).

YB: When lot of stoplights come, you must understand it is not a freeway. (?)

Freeways don’t have red lights. When you start seeing lights it’s a boulevard. It may look like a freeway. It’s very simple. It’s as simple as anything else.

You know once I called a spiritual teacher. I said, “Holy sir, how are you?”

He said, “Fine.”

I said, “Well, there is a mental institution and I am going to go there. Luckily you are in the town, why can’t we go both and just discuss with people?”

He said, “No, no, no, no, no, yogiYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. , no, no, no. it’s not my KarmaKarma The law of cause and effect applied to mental, moral, and physical actions. We can transform it or neutralize it using meditation, jappa, good deeds, or intuition that remove your sense of ego and the identification with that past line of action. , I don’t want to go.”

I said, “You sick holy,” I just rubbed him so bad, you can’t believe it. You…

YB: Understand? You know if you can go somewhere where people flatter your ego, also go there were they are going to abuse you to balance it out. Don’t worry. Everywhere you go, either you go in name of God or you go in your own name. Freeway is very well known. One simple sign, everybody drives in a lane, and there are exits and entries but no red lights. Moment red light stops coming, you are on a boulevard. Remember that. Yes dear.

Student: (----)

YB: That’s the purpose of the ego.

(Students laugh)

Ego is to confuse, until you don’t get confused you won’t find anything you know. Why should you worry to find anything? When you don’t find the right address, you always end up on a petrol pump and say… gas station you know where is this road? Ego confuses, it's okay, that’s the purpose of the ego.

Student: Sir, ego is the source of something else or source in the society for creating (?).

YB: You mean everybody should get out of the confusion and become holy, where we will go? You know everybody is not everybody, everybody is somebody is somebody and everybody is somebody and somebody is everybody. This is the law. Some people have to be confused, some has to be non-confused, so non-confused help the confused, confuse help the non-confuse. That’s the relationship.

Student: (----)

YB: It's a play, it's the MayaMaya The creative power of the Creator that restricts and limits. It creates the sense of limitation that leads us to identify with experience, the ego, and things. There was a one student of mine, he came once and he had tears. He said, “Sir, I am very ugly.”

I said, “You look very pretty.”

(Students laugh)

“Why you call yourself ugly?”

He said, “Well, I am sorry, I can’t help, I go to see x-rated movies.”

I said, “Well, that is terrible.”

He said, “Is there any way out?”

I said, “Yes. Act x-rated. That’s better.”

(Students laugh)

“Be practical, why to go and suffer yourself by seeing x-rated movies? Be x-rated yourself.”

He said, “What will happen?”

I said, “One day you will be so hurt, you will become saint.”

Balmiki was a thief, you know he became the highest saint, he became a saint.

Student: Who?

YB: Balmiki. RishiRishi Enlightened being; Yogi. Balmiki was a thief. He used to kill people on the way and take away their things. He was known for it. One day saintly man came, and Balmiki caught him and he said, “I am going to kill you.”

He said, “What for?”

“To take away what you have.”

He said, “What do I have? I have one loincloth and one staff in my hand. Staff from my hand you have already taken and loincloth won’t give you anything.”

He said, “You mean it may give you nothing but something is better than nothing.”

He said, “You are going to kill a human being for this loincloth?”

He said, “Sure.”

He said, “What for?”

He said, “You are talking too much. How I have to take care of my children and my family and everybody?”

He said, “All right, you don’t worry. You are doing so much for them; will they do something for you?”

He said, “Sure, why not? I do everything for them, they do everything for me.”

He said, “Go and check.”

He said, “Why should I check them?”

He said, “To be sure.”

He said, “Okay, all right.”

He tied him with the tree and he went home and he said, “Folks, today I have found a person, I have not killed him, somebody of you should… I am just not feeling to kill today. But you know I have to kill him because I took away his loincloth and somebody should come and kill him.”

They said, “No, no, no, why should we kill him?”

He said, “Why not?”

They said, “No way. We don’t want to kill.”

He said, “You want to eat. Don’t you know that I kill everybody and then I bring their things and then why you eat?”

They said, “That is all right. Your job is to feed us. You kill or you don’t kill, it's your problem. We are not going to kill for you.”

He came back and he left him and he said, “You are right.”

And then he got the GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. It can be a person, a teaching, or in its most subtle form - the Word. I said, “How can God comes and fix it up?”

You know I was like you one day too. And at one moment one of our relative was dying and his wife started crying and she said, “Oh God he didn’t even sign his will though he wrote it!”

And I said, “Wait a minute, if that is the emergency we can do something.”

I pressed the right nerve and I closed the nostril, one nostril. And he was in the coma of death. He just opened up (?) he said, “What is happening?”

I said, “You have to sign the will.”

(Students laugh)

We raised him up, he signed the will and by doing that my hand went away from his nostril, moment it got completed, I was… I am telling you I knew it, but I was innocent, I didn’t have the experience. Moment my hand went… you know there he goes… (?) that’s what it is, that’s true. That is Ajana. Hey sonny, is there anybody who has to come and participate?

Student: Kirpal Singh.

YB: Kirpal, is there anybody to participate once we start it, then you know just check it out… some people must be running in the kitchen for nothing. So what we are doing today is… yesterday we worked on the heart center, we did a meditationMeditation Dhyan. It is a process of deep concentration or merger into an object or a state of consciousness. Meditation releases reactions and unconscious habits and build the spontaneous and intuitive link to awareness itself. , many of you were here yesterday and today we have to do what we have to do with Ajana. Sometime you wonder when you participate in the meditationsMeditation Dhyan. It is a process of deep concentration or merger into an object or a state of consciousness. Meditation releases reactions and unconscious habits and build the spontaneous and intuitive link to awareness itself. why do we not retain the experience. We don’t retain the experience because once the teacher leaves, we leave the meditationMeditation Dhyan. It is a process of deep concentration or merger into an object or a state of consciousness. Meditation releases reactions and unconscious habits and build the spontaneous and intuitive link to awareness itself. too. We don’t develop it. Learning becomes learning only when the learned practices it. Because practice makes you perfect. All right, please sit down straight, wherever you want to sit down. This is my left hand. Is that true? Lock it on your mounts, it's a very difficult lock, it's little painful in case your fingers are tipped. Understand? All right, this is it. And this side, this side also lock it right here and put it this way and go back.

Chest has to be totally out caged, rib cage has to be lifted in this. Ladies, you sometime feel so shy you have the practice to hang forward and then you don’t lift the rib cage and that (?) of rib cage and that creates lot of problem. But today at least you can do that, okay? I am slowly turning backward, watch me. Till I reach my last balance, the entire weight will go on my lower spine and further if I move I’ll fall out of balance. Reach that point, okay? You will reach one point, just a millimeter beyond that if you will push you will go back. Just hold at that border line. You are in good shape? And breathe, one two three four, one two three four… maintain that posture, that’s very important.

Don’t get out of balance though. Inhale, stretch forward, stretch forward right away. Stretch forward, stretch forward, stretch forward right away. Relax, relax, relax, relax. Up, up, up, up, we are going to do it quite a bit…

(Students laugh)

It is going to be very practical, I don’t… neither I have learnt this way to just be philosophy only, it's a very practical tit bits of science. Who has come with a red cap? I know I am going to…

Student: (----)

YB: I know, I am going to cut her into three.

(Students laugh)

Where you have been all this time?

Student: (----)

YB: What are you doing here? I am not asking explanation right now, one day I’ll finish, you give me the full explanation minute to minute and I’ll discuss the whole game. Some people have the right to be what they want to be. Some people have the right not to be what they want to be. Thank you for coming. Now we are going to talk to you, okay? You don’t misunderstand, you watch me talking.

(Students laugh)

Student: (----)

YB: Yeah, no, I always kept her very easy. And girls in our culture, when girls started giving trouble we marry them off.

(Students laugh)

And when married woman starts giving trouble, we make them pregnant.

(Students laugh)

When pregnant lady starts giving trouble we send them on tours. And when nothing works we invite friends and make them cook.

(Students laugh)

Student: (----)

YB: Okay back again. Oh it's our right, it's our birthright.

Student: (----)

YB: Oh yes my dear sir, it is the sex area, pancreas, liver, spleen, A to Z there is hardly any glandular system, which is not under trouble. Lungs, heart, name anything. Pineal, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, lungs, heart, liver, pancreas, adrenal, whole gonads, even testicles starts feeling cold and you feel like there is a ice hanging there.

Student: (----)

YB: Oh, no, no, no pain business it's all right. Just little churning is okay. Painful doesn’t work in this system this system is complete by itself. Yesterday was less pain some people were feeling terrible pain. It happens. Because system, the tissue, the energy, the sympathetic nervous system and all that tuned up. Body is not ready for it, you know we have a habit, get on and… you work that way. But how long we can waste? How long we can wait? What we are waiting for? That’s one question my teacher told me. When I said, “Well, sir, I am very young, I will start little later.”

He said, “When?”

And just out of innocence I said, “Tomorrow.”

He said, “Why not today? What you start tomorrow, I’ll start today, chal come, sit down, let us start.”

That’s how I started. You think four and a half is big age? I started; I was four and a half years old. That’s how life is. You can’t fool around. Who knows tomorrow Sun will rise or not, who is going to wait first. We hope it will. We are pretty sure it will. But if it doesn’t what we can do? Why not to do it today? That’s why I came. You may not feel angry at one time, ‘he never came.’

(Students laugh)

You cannot say now before God nobody came.

(Students laugh)

He will say, ‘yeah, I sent YogiYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. Bhajan, that nut was right there, (?) with his (?) finger, do, do, just do it.’ You know it's matter of time. Good, all right folks.

Student: (----)

YB: (?) and this is Id, ego, and this Id goes separate because Id always goes separate. And put pressure on these mounts right with these fingers it’s painful. How flexible it is, but it is painful, palm has to be very straight and then turn back. It's a funny position when you turn back; my God see how painful it is. Right at the navel pointNavel Point The sensitive area of the body near the umbilicus that accumulates and stores life force. It is the reserve energy from this area that initiates the flow of the Kundalini energy from the base of the spine. If the navel area is strong, your vital force and health are also strong. there is a pain and I know if I go further, I can be maximum. This is it. Now if I pull little back, I am going to go right on my back. Okay? Set, aha, you are coming…

Okay (?).

Student: (----)

YB: No, no, it is all right, it is okay. That’s within the law (?) I’ll be going, if you are (?) you are all under my eyes, it is not just closing my eyes. All I want at this time you keep your whole muscle system moving, that’s all we need at this moment. Could you feel terribly hot? Warm?

Student: (----)

YB: Okay. So you are at a good point of cooking, okay. Okay, get back into the posture, don’t worry about it. I mean you understand you want to study but you also understand I came all the way from Los Angeles to teach. I am more tired than you. You follow what I am doing? So let us do it, let us let it happen. Yeah. You see it is no fun coming all the way and doing nothing, aha I did very good, come on. Let us do something. Let’s allow ourself let it happen to us. You know allow yourself don’t resist, some of you are just trying very good but resisting. Don’t resist, okay. Resisting is no good, let it happen, it's a natural flow of human consciousnessConsciousness The nature of the self and being. In the realm of nature, awareness becomes consciousness. It is from the being itself. Being is expressed in consciousness through contrasts and sensations, in awareness through merger, clarity, and reality. . Every micro consciousnessConsciousness The nature of the self and being. In the realm of nature, awareness becomes consciousness. It is from the being itself. Being is expressed in consciousness through contrasts and sensations, in awareness through merger, clarity, and reality. will go into macro consciousnessConsciousness The nature of the self and being. In the realm of nature, awareness becomes consciousness. It is from the being itself. Being is expressed in consciousness through contrasts and sensations, in awareness through merger, clarity, and reality. ; every individual can go to Infinity. Good, come on. Tighten it, this you sometime loose.

The palm has to be very tight, straight like this, stretch it on it. Painful, I know that. You don’t want to do it I never wanted to do it the first day. Later on I found it, it works. So (?) do it, and then go really to that point. Haa that’s it. Now I know if I just go little back, I am going right back over the seat because this area has to be totally (?) that is where serum is to be controlled. That’s why you are put in this posture. Posture has very specific purpose (?). This headaches, this problems, this… okay do.

(Students laugh)

All right, all right, so (?)… lot of people are going after him and there was a one peer sitting and the other guy was sitting by his side, he said, “Peer JiJi Soul; used as an endearment or sign of respect. !”

He said, “What?”

He said, “You are a man of God, you are a (?) of Allah, you tell what this man is going to go to heavens or hell?”

Peer said, “Son, it is not difficult.”

He said, “Oh my God, why it is not difficult, tell me how can I know?”

He said, “Go and join them and listen what people are talking. If all the people are talking he was very Divine, he was very good, then he should go to simple jannat to the heavens. But if they are talking thank God, he is dead, God bless him, he got the weight out of the Earth, but anyway let us go and bury him. Then you should understand he is going to hell.”

“Jo (?) Tho Kaa, Batata Hei Ik Baap, Khuda Kay Ghar Mein Kya Rakha Hein Tera Insaaf.”

That your coffin when it goes in a procession tells one thing whether you are going to heaven or to hell. Die you must. But if you die like a man God shall come and receive you. If you die like a coward, forget it. Rats won’t touch you. You know once there was a cat. Mountain cat. She was dying with hunger. The wise crow came, he said, “Hey, mountain lion, why you are dying with hunger?”

He said, “What should I do? There is nothing, I am trying to hunt, there is nothing to do.”

He said, “Well, there is a one man, he died. Why don’t you go and eat him up?”

He said, “Oh that’s a coward, I am not going to eat coward.”

It is in the face of death and you live it. Today we look weird; tomorrow everybody will look weird because we have practiced to look weird against all system. One thing we have achieved which is very special to us, to look weird among the weirds.

(Students laugh)

We are right on you know.

(Students laugh)

Once I was going in a plane and somebody said, “What are you wearing this?”

I said, “Just for convenience.”

He said, “But you know in America if you want to dress up like American lot of people like to talk to you.”

I said, “You are not dressed up as American you are British stooge.”

(Students laugh)

“These three pieces dress is not American, are you kidding with me? I know what Americans wear. You are a British colonist, same slaves, wearing the same tie and three pieces suit. You are not yet out of it baby!”

He looked around and said, “Perhaps you are right.”

In the face of death, in the face of negativity, in the face of opposition and in the face of the hell when you stand and say I am the Son of God. Then you really become. Many speak of courage. (?) Kripal.

YB: There are two alternatives. If you will change world won’t change for you. If you won’t change the world shall change for you. Either you are a hub or the wheel, if you become the hub, there will be a wheel. If you are wheel then you are not the hub. Either change with the world or change the world, there is no in between. Die you must. But never die as a coward. Don’t give an inch!

It is from the being itself. Being is expressed in consciousness through contrasts and sensations, in awareness through merger, clarity, and reality. , the self, to the extent, that before God decides anything he says, “Oh banday, what you want? What is your opinion?”

Hazrat Ibrahim, he was sitting one day and he opened his eyes and sees there is a light and the angel. Gabriel was writing some names. And he said, “Hey what are you writing?”

He said, “I am writing the name of those who love God.”

He said, “Very good. My name is there?”

He said, “No.”

He said, “Get out of this my place. What are you sitting here for? When my name is not there, I am not in love of God, no good news!”

He said, “Well, I am going to use your place for a while.”

Next day he again rose after the light, he said, “What are you doing today?”

He said, “Today I am writing the name of those whom God loves.”

He said, “Forget it! Yesterday my name was not there how can be today?”

He said, “Funny, today is only your name, everybody else is empty. Today yours is the only name.”

So there are relationships where we love God and there are relationships where God loves you. Okay. You thought they have forgotten my job?

(Students laugh)

No, no. This music was just to divert your attention. Nothing serious. Work like a workshop, you just want to work, listen good things, smile a lot, eat, have cup of tea, few minutes sing to God and think you are very high. Come on, come on, do a great job. Get back third; that the secret of this is turn back to the maximum beyond that you can’t go. Just to that point, right? So, so, so, so…

Just relax, just relax. Okay, okay, okay, rise up, rise up, rise up. You are good. Come on, come on, come on I’ll give you come on, come on, come on. Next, next, next, next, come on, come on, come on, hurry up. Somebody must have made with lot of love so many people could eat it, haa! Come on, come on, everybody.

YB: It's beyond time and space, anytime.

Student: Should we be saying it out well?

YB: It is meant to be repeated. It is Japa. It's a Japa.

Student: (----)

YB: Yeah, those nothing. Language what…language was later on our expression. God has millions of names; Gods have… humans have millions of languages. Zillions of expressions. Yeah, this is what I mean very fast. Yeah, this (?) is coming out of the (?) thank you.

Student: (----)

YB: I can give you in writing, you go to any teacher, you go to any doctor nothing will work for you. (?) you save yourself kid. These spiritual jokes are only for those who are all right. See, understand? You won’t hurt me, but it will hurt me when I’ll see you badly hurt. Black pepper has terrible energy. (?) okay, you couldn’t stand it. Substitute it with beets. You got to grow. You can’t be like this. You can’t allow it to be chronic, simple. Just telling you something very simple and you won’t listen, it's your problem.

Student: (----)

YB: Oh I understand that, I see right in your auraAura The radiant field of energy and consciousness that surrounds the physical body and which holds and organizes the seven centers of energy called chakras. Its strength, measured by brightness and radius, determines the vitality, mental concerns, and psychophysical integrity of a person. , I understand it or (?) again and again and again. Nothing else is going to work. You make lot of confusion about yourself. Sometimes there is no fun to be teachers. (?).

Student: (----)

YB: Yes sir! I am sorry; I can’t help you more than that. You got it. Bless you, bless you, bless you. (?). You are healthy enough but not to my standard. What are you eating?

Student: (----)

YB: And don’t talk anything, what are you eating these days?

Student: (----)

YB: And how many times you cheated on the diet, come on quick!

(Students laugh)

When I start speaking then it looks bad, right? And you come out yourself and you are good. How many times you cheated on your diet?

(Students laugh)

Quite a lot, right? What you were eating? What she said?

Student: (----)

(Students laugh)

Not forever, for about three-four months. Then I’ll see you, then I am going to tell you further as you progress I’ll talk to you. I am not far away; I am not going to go anywhere.

Student: (----)

You want more? Is that not one sufficient? If we get out of one we will be happy.

You know there is a peace lagoon; it is a translation of the Holy Scripture. There are lot of stanzas, which have lot of deeper philosophies. I know you people can’t read in the original language but at least in translation you can learn it for just like you learn a book out of book for knowledge sake. That’s very stimulating. Go through those just scriptural knowledge.

“Ek Bhi Na Dey, Dus Bhi Har Ley, Tou Mood Kahu...”

You know what is my strength? My strength is not that I am very good wrestler, my strength is that I have the scriptures to support me. Don’t misunderstand I don’t fall, I don’t feel sad, I feel exactly as you feel. But at the moments of negativity I have scriptures to support me.

“Ek Bhi Na Dey, Dus Bhi Har Ley, Tou Mood Kahu Kya Karey, Jiss Thakker Sey Nahi Chaar, Tiss Ko Karu Sada Namaskara.”

If God doesn’t give you one, the ten He has given, you already take away; oh fool what you can do? If you cannot do anything with Him why not to bow and just be good with Him? These sentences are very Divine. They are very supportive. They are very good reminders. Gurubani is one scripture where human being has been given reminder and illustration between his and God relationship back and forth every time. So it is very illustrating, it is lot of good things (?).

‘(?).’

You should read all that poetry of very beautiful poets. Very elevating, very elevating. At least every word of Farid, Baba Farid, you should remember by heart. In Siri GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. It can be a person, a teaching, or in its most subtle form - the Word. GranthGranth Literally: knot: book. it is right there, it’s nothing. You just take it in Roman, just remember that. Beautiful words, beautiful. Very heart opening, very flow of energy, it's beautiful. I have a tape, which sings the BaniBani Literally "Word", Refers to the Word of God contained in the Sikh Sacred Writings; Banis refers to Sikh daily prayers. of Baba Farid and Kabir. Hari, you have? When will you ask SatSat Existence; what is; the subtle essence of Infinity itself. SimranSimran A deep meditative process in which the naam of the Infinite is remembered and dwelled in without conscious effort. ? Or Ram Das Kaur? She has it in cassette I think, I have in my, my own cassette I take them on tour. Beautiful! Sung beautifully. That’s good thing to revolve, it's a good strength. So when the (?) is going to come from the (?) month or two?

Student: Yeah, she will be here (?).

YB: What made him to think that it is (?).

Student: Well, his wife picked it up few months ago and then he picked it up and they discussed together (?) intuition and then (?) consulted they must not (?) when he was here he got enough clear (?) we said okay. New Mexico’s (?). You met him when he was here?

YB: No, no. I (?) a shop.

Student: Well, he will be coming here in September and (?) is a very beautiful and very (?). He is a eighteen year old man just (?). He stands on his (?) all the way from Istanbul to America. They couldn’t make him, he wouldn’t (?) they couldn’t do it (?).

YB: Isn’t funny some people have lot of energy. Irshad is doing good, I like the way he approaches people. He is not a phony. That’s one thing best. If he doesn’t know a thing, he will just tell you I don’t know. If he knows he will tell you, he doesn’t make up, he doesn’t cook things. That’s what I like in him. He is much better than many Sufi teachers I have met. You understand what I am saying? At least he says what should be said not make up… he is going to put a frame around it. Just very healthy, happy person. Because neither it is good to give high hopes, nor it is good to pull the leg. It is always good, let every individual evolve. And in this involvement comes the evolvement. So it's a very gradual path, it is not overnight. There is nothing wrong with anybody, that’s what the main problem is. If a person is crazy, he is meant to be and it is good to be crazy. If everybody becomes wise nobody can exploit anybody.

(Students laugh)

You understand what I mean? So it's good. There have to be bunch of fools so that there should be need of wise people. There has to be thief so that we can pay the policeman. There has to be fire so we can have the fire brigade. So it's all necessary, the all things complement and supplement each other. There is no fault. There has to be pain in life, there has to be displeasure in life so that we can look to God. Otherwise nobody will pray. You got to be hurt. You know the funny thing; I never tell people sometime they ask me certain things. When I left India I brought so much luggage with me that I could have survived in America for two three years without any support. I had everything. Including cash things to turn into money. And when my luggage reached Amsterdam, I don’t know what happened to it, but when I came to Canada, I dropped down at that port before Toronto, what they call it?

Students: (-----)

YB: (?), yeah but what is the name of the place. Montréal. So I looked about my luggage, I had immigration already, papers were all set. And I looked around I said, “My luggage!”

They said, “Sir, your luggage has not come on this plane.”

I said, “You know how much luggage I have got.”

He said, “Yes sir, you have lot of luggage. Two hundred and some kilos, four hundred pounds, you know.”

“What should I do?”

They said, “Sir, this is a claim list, you claim it.”

So I claimed the number, serial number and all that jazz, and the guy looked at me and I was in the house gown, they had given me four seats so I can be comfortable, I can be sleeping you know, they had good relationship with me. So he gave me twenty-five bucks. He said, “You can buy the underwear for the night and change you know God knows when your luggage will come, by tomorrow perhaps it will come, we will try our best.”

It never came back.

Student: Never.

YB: Never. And I looked around at myself, I said, “Wow!”

(Students laugh)

What a great welcome! So I was to meet somebody and he was to receive me at Toronto airport, while driving to receive me he met with an accident and died on the steering wheel. A dash accident, died right on the spot. No problem. So I went to my friend you know and she was such a great friend you can’t believe it. And she lived with me in Delhi for four years and I did everything in the world to make her happy. So she said don’t worry, I’ll give you the… but you know. I said, “All right” I went to her house. And I stayed couple of days, I remember it was Wednesday, when some people learned about me and they came to see me. I couldn’t serve them anything but there was a cottage cheese so I put the cottage cheese out and put little things, make them eat it with one juice. In the evening she came from work and I don’t know she wanted to eat cottage cheese; she went in, she said, “What happened to the cottage cheese?”

I said, “I ate it up.”

She said, “How could you do that? Only on Saturday I buy it!”

I said, “What are you talking about? It's just few pennies worth of cottage cheese, you are so upset.”

“No, no, no mister, in India I know you don’t care, you Indians don’t care, I know you used to put on me lot of things and do whole thing and give me feast. In this country, no, no, no.”

I said, “Wow, this is very special country!”

(Students laugh)

I said, “Fine!” I said, “Okay, I am just going.”

She said, “What for?”

I said, “To find cottage cheese.”

So I came down, asked the taxi, told him one place where my (?) used to live I just went there and I rang her up and I said, “Goodbye, whenever I can afford to get my luggage or whatever I have one bag and (?). You can live with your cottage cheese; I am sending it to you.”

So I told the kid, I said, “Go and bring my toothbrush and all that stuff, but take a big bucket of cottage cheese and give it to her.”

So I sent her that you know…

(Students laugh)

That’s it and I never went again to see that woman. But later on she was in difficulty I just sent her something. I came to this friend and (?) Canada Government… you know (?) good man, he was known and everything started. This guy started giving me so much trouble, because I get up early in the morning, take shower and meditate, his wife bugged me, “Aah, we get up, he disturbs us.” You know what I mean? I’ll be in bathroom in the morning, create lot of noise. So I had to leave them. And one day I just looked to the sky, I said, “Hey, wait a minute, what are you playing these tricky games with me? I am not going to go back and you got to do something and you do it soon.”

Next day I was in a plane because next day they told me that you got to take a shovel and get out and break that ice early in the morning before seven O’ clock school time to clear the pathway. Otherwise if anybody falls before your house in the pathway you can be sued very heavily for damages. I said, “Look YogiYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. , I can do everything but not early in the morning to break the ice. No, that’s none of my job. I am not going to do it.”

And then I got immediate call to come to California. And I was on the plane man, there was a big snow and there was Sun shine and that was the last time I visited Canada.

(Students laugh)

I went after two, three years back. But you know it's good. This time they were telling me in Canada when I went on this tour. They said, “Sir, why don’t you come here?”

I said, “I came here, you all never hurt me, you let me go. It's your KarmaKarma The law of cause and effect applied to mental, moral, and physical actions. We can transform it or neutralize it using meditation, jappa, good deeds, or intuition that remove your sense of ego and the identification with that past line of action. , not mine. I came all my heart.”

What (?) they have bought a huge ashramAshram , Aashram A community of practitioners who come together to live conscious, mindful lives. , my God, it’s worth seeing. And look how sincere I am, God works for it. I got a call one day and they said, “Yogiji!”

I said, “What is your problem?”

They said, “Sir, if tomorrow morning we don’t have seventy-five thousand dollars we will be put right in the street, in the snow.”

I said, “How much is the snow outside?”

He said, “Five feet!”

(Students laugh)

They said, “Sir, I am not kidding, we all will die, tomorrow they are going to do.”

I said, “Okay, we will do something.”

I put a telephone call, something, and I called my bank, I said, “I need seventy-five thousand morning dollar cash.”

He said, “Where to?”

I said, “To such and such bank in there.”

He said, “Okay.”

So they transferred the money and we bought that other house. So we bought that, I told the kids, I said, “Okay, don’t worry, don’t get in snow, go and shift into that.”

They got into that. First we got the same house. They had become, what they call… national something, which you can’t break.

Student: (----)

YB: Oh there is a system you know the old houses you can’t destroy, you renovate and keep that.

Student: (----)

YB: Yeah, landmarks, yeah. So the whole street got declared landmark. So this guy got that house plus that house and government gave them two houses, which they cut together and made a big ashramAshram , Aashram A community of practitioners who come together to live conscious, mindful lives. . They are leaders, they are enjoying. I end up paying money. Nice!

(Students laugh)

And they live, I pay the tax. Isn’t funny?

(Students laugh)

It's strange. First you know we were all kids and it was terrible, the kids won’t get the credit, so we will buy house on credit, I’ll buy in my name, do the down payment, later on transfer it to DharmaDharma A path of righteous living. It is both an ideal of virtue and a path of action that is infused with clear awareness and comprised of actions that are the soul in total synchrony with the universe. It is action without reaction or karma. . Down payment is gone, that’s it. And that’s the end of it. We did whatever we did, we did a lot. We did it together. That’s what it is. I still enjoy the fun of it. Okay, you guys from Boulder have lot of fun. Take care of you, God willed that way, so we came, (?) had fun, drank tea, break the bread, did what we could and then on my way. God willing sometime in the near future, maybe next year try to see you again so we pass this land. SatSat Existence; what is; the subtle essence of Infinity itself.
