Come on sit down. I'm supposed to be with you today and I'm going to say certain things, which are going to be funny but I am waiting for some people to come by, so that you can hear what I am saying.

(Punjabi)

What I am saying to you, hear me clearly, I'm not trying to ask you to agree with it, that's not my point of view, my point of view is that somebody did tell me sometime some things, I heard them, I investigated them, I worked them out in my life, they made me a great man. I am not a great man but those things made me great. There are two things in life you have to understand, it isn't the life that matters, it is the courage you bring to it. And if you bring the courage to your life it is not enough. With courage you have to have commitment, and with commitment you have to have consciousnessConsciousness The nature of the self and being. In the realm of nature, awareness becomes consciousness. It is from the being itself. Being is expressed in consciousness through contrasts and sensations, in awareness through merger, clarity, and reality. , with consciousnessConsciousness The nature of the self and being. In the realm of nature, awareness becomes consciousness. It is from the being itself. Being is expressed in consciousness through contrasts and sensations, in awareness through merger, clarity, and reality. you have to have intelligence.

When you are young you will grow, when you are grown up you need to be polished, your story is no different than that of a carbon, carbon as a gas has hardly any value, carbon in a solid form as charcoal has some value, but it's dead black, even you heat it in the fire it becomes red, you let it go down it's back and if you touch, it blackens everything. But the same carbon when gets crystallized it becomes a diamond, but do you know rock diamond doesn't have any value, when the diamond is cut and polished and put in the jewellery, it has all the value you need. The chip diamond which doesn't mean anything otherwise when gets into the jewellery make a lot of sense make a lot of price.

Now all of you want a price in your life that I know, you want to excel, you want to grow, you want to be, but you are not willing to pay the price for it. If you think you are black, yellow, green, pink, white, you are in a color façade, you will never grow of it, if you think you are a American, you are Californian, you are this and that, you will never grow out of territory. If you just think that you are made in God and the world belongs to you and you have to belong to this world and take care of it, everything will come to you.

You are as you want to expand it but keep the balance, you expand and then fall apart, that's not the way to be. When you were very young, you can do lot of things, your blood is hot, passions are high, insecurities are many and you grow in many different ways, but if you take the path of wisdom and understand wisdom and engrained it, you become a person who can have a carrier and a career. On a carrier you can carry the weight, as a career you can reach it to the destiny.

I feel all of you have a special thing to do and that is to do to excel yourself. Once I remember I was asking kids, when I was a kid myself, 'let us not play this game, let us play hide and seek.'

They told me "No, we got to play this, we are right you are coward, you are very good, you jump all the time, why not?"

I said, "I jump all the time with me it's a joke, but many of you do not know how to jump and somebody may get hurt."

"No, no way, we all can jump."

I said, "Look I'm a athlete, I have a record in school."

"No, no, no, let us jump together."

I said, "I'm very hesitant but if you insist I'm telling you it's not going to be good news." And sooner or later surprisingly we got two people, one with a sprained foot other with a sprained thigh. And I said to the people, I said, "Didn't I tell you not to do this."

"Oh why not?"

I said, "Neither your muscles are ready for it, nor you are prepared to, how to warm up nor you know how to do it," everything has a style, everything has a warm up, everything has to have an experience and everything has to start small. Sometime we dream so much that we do not care what we do, because our blood is hot, we can eat anything we want, we can do anything we want and in the end we find it's not true, it doesn't take us anywhere. It is to be young, it is very good, but it is to be young and wise that is the best. My endure with you is, that let us endure it together.

You see these days I don't prepare my lectures, I don't read books, I don't do anything, I can sit down and speak just extempore on any subject as good as you want. Because there was a time I studied and I studied and I studied. Never mix your play and pleasure together with your work and with your responsibility. Keep them separate, life is a game in which you must score, if you play right you will score well, if you play wrong you'll off the beat.

The subject which I wanted to talk to you today is leadership. Leadership is the most difficult subject of all, leadership requires you lead, and make everybody to follow, to be lead by that leadership of you. That is playing like a team and encouraging everybody, you are all disturbing through this gate to the extent that these eyes, go to that gate who is coming and who is not, lock it and after that don't you open ever, period. You are disturbing the audience for nothing. As children you will not be happy if you do not succeed to be the leaders, because success is a very powerful boredom in itself. And leadership is nothing, to share with others your experience of wisdom joy and life, and the most important thing,

Sir, you are dismissed, you opened the door and you disobeyed my orders, you quit.

Staff: (------)

YB: Thank you, you must understand something in life, leadership has a very relevant attitude, leadership is nothing but what GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. It can be a person, a teaching, or in its most subtle form - the Word. Guru Nanak First Guru of the Sikhs. NanakGuru Nanak First Guru of the Sikhs. said in the second line, Vand Chako. Share with others, the merits, the qualities, of your life. If you give somebody something to eat somebody's hungry, if you give somebody clothes if somebody's naked, if you give somebody to drink somebody's thirsty, that won't work for a long time, but if you give somebody the merits how to be great that person will remember you forever. Leadership is to become great yourself and make others to be great. It's gradual, it needs self-control, it needs concentration of mind, it needs to figure it out how to not damage. And as Khalsa children, you will have a lot of challenge.

Challenge is terrible, why you should be challenged! But it's beautiful, when you are challenged it shows your strength and grit. It is the fastest way to grow and be courageous. Nobody has become leader without a challenge, it goes with the territory and no carbon has become diamond without the pressure of crystallization of time and space. Just remember, those who stood well will enjoy very well. Those who stood very well their grounds shall enjoy the grounds very well, these are the laws which shall never change.

As Sikh children you have no choice to be special, but to be special. If you ever want to be hanky panky not only you will fall apart, but as a ordinary children you'll suffer. Simply your advantage is that you are being told and you are being expected and you are required to be special. There's a one word, it's called Niarapan, you should be excellent. And you must excel, therefore you need wisdom not to make wrong decisions, not to mislead people, not to lie to people, don't give them wrong information, don't try to be emotional and commotional and later on you'll have to lick your own spit, don't say those things for which you have to be sorry. Don't participate in something for which you have later on to regret, let your growing path of life become a happy path of life. Excel and be excellent, just understand in your life the most important thing is, you must trust yourself and people must trust you. And you can only win that with learn one line, obey higher values, practice them and share with others. You shall become a leader whether you want it or you don't want it.

All right, now admit him in, punishment is over, that's enough. Your suspension is ordered to be restored and now if the door opens, then you'll be dismissed permanently, thank you.

The idea to share life with you is, I want you not to be better than me, I want you to be better than me and excellent than me, you know why? It is a selfish thing, because if you all will be better and best, then people think I was good. You know what I'm saying? How great I am nobody will care, that will be my greatness will end with me, my greatness only will extend itself, if you become greater than me, do you hear that? Ah! And don't you love me enough that you want to do it, that's why not medically fit not required to be here, I have come here just to tell you this secret. I am great by virtue of myself, serving the GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. It can be a person, a teaching, or in its most subtle form - the Word. 's words and GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. Feel that way there are two things to be with Sikhs, and as Sikh children you should have two things with you too. Whether you are right or wrong always feel GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. Each body has its own quality, function, and realm of action. of your body, you have intelligence, you have excellence of wisdom and all that is given to you by God, if you think GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. And it takes only one thing to do, just feel Ang Sang Wahe Wahe Guru , Whaa-hay Guroo A mantra of ecstasy and dwelling in God. It is the Infinite teacher of the soul. Also called the gur mantra. GuruWahe Guru , Whaa-hay Guroo A mantra of ecstasy and dwelling in God. It is the Infinite teacher of the soul. Also called the gur mantra. Understand, none of you will have pain in life if you follow this formula.

In my own life I had friends, I don't say I don't have friends, I have friends, but whenever they will do something hanky panky, I'll say, 'I'm not for it.' I developed a status they will tell me what they are doing and they tell me it is wrong and they tell me they are ashamed to tell me what they are doing, and they also will tell me they are not stopping it and then they tell me if something goes wrong I should cover them. And remember don't hate people those who are wrong, don't hate? People who do wrong, help them, uplift them, serve them, that's what I did and that's how I became leader, they could trust me in their adversity. If a man can trust you in adversity you become the leader and you become the Sikh.

Sikh is a living embodiment of being trusted. Say it, Sikh...

Students: Is a living embodiment of being trusted.

YB: Is a living embodiment of being, and that is beginning to be a Sikh. And then you put your life in the hand and put your head on the palm of the hand and serve those who need you, right or wrong and that is the embodiment of the Khalsa. Service and sacrifice is the embodiment of the?

Students: Khalsa.

YB: I have taught you entire Sikh Sikh Dharma A living experience of values as taught in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. DharmaSikh Dharma A living experience of values as taught in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. Dharma A path of righteous living. It is both an ideal of virtue and a path of action that is infused with clear awareness and comprised of actions that are the soul in total synchrony with the universe. Now you can ask questions go ahead, it's your day, now I am subject to answer you as you want it. Yes.

Student: (------)

YB: First of all I am not going to die in the sense this body will not be there but I will have lot of pictures hanging around so I'm just there, and secondly for lot many years I have always worked through my subtle bodySubtle Body See Ten Bodies. , my physical body is just a shell, it carries, when I will die I will merge in all of you, that's what is going to happen, I'll visit you now I visit you at day time then I'll visit you at night, say, 'hi, how are you doing?' I'll sometime come to the little ones and sing the lullabies, in the morning sometime, 'Hey wait a minute' this is going to happen, you'll get up in the morning and you'll get up late and you'll stare me standing there. "Hi you are late?" And they'll say, "Who?" Then I'll disappear. I'll come quick and go fast, is that reasonable? No, that's what I'm going to do, now I pick up the telephone in the middle of the night and say, 'stop it,' you know. I do this mischief again and again, I have done it from the time immemorial and that's one of my habit, I never stop. Yes you, somebody there raised the hand, yes.

Student: (------)

YB: Could you repeat it so that I can understand?

Staff: (------)

YB: Watch it, yeah that is admissible, ah where the children are going to live?

Staff: (------)

YB: What, what we are going to do what?

Staff: (------)

YB: Oh, when you are coming to see me we are going to have fun, that's what we are going to do, you know we are not going to tell these as...

Then they'll start telling us what we can do and what we cannot do and then they will tell me you are not well, therefore you should not do this and then say that children should not do this. No, we are not telling anybody what we are going to do, we are going to do what we are going to do, we are going to have fun. Ah, were there any some people who come from Albuquerque to stay with me that one two days, anybody here? Oh from the school I brought you for few days remember, ah, could you raise your hands how many were you there, and was it a fun or not?

Students: (------)

YB: That's what we are going to do. What we are going to do is going to create a very big fun and enjoy it. All right, yes.

Student: (------)

YB: Ah, what, what?

Student: (------)

YB: Oh, it was that Amritsar academy and I brought the whole everybody who wanted to come and we, remember what we did, ah we don't tell, but it was fun. What we are going to do kind of, a fun come something to learn, something useful, but I'm not disclosing it because then they'll put all medical restrictions on me and mess me up, and then you will feel bored, so let's keep it between ourself okay. When we will be in our land we can do anything we want, right, okay, good. Yep?

Student: (------)

YB: Mischief is a very charming act of life provided it has no wrong intention for anybody including you. Mischief is you are a chief, and as a chief you can get bored sometime so you want to do some mischief, so you miss yourself to be chief but don't forget tomorrow when you become chief you are answerable, you understand what I'm saying? So do things for which you are not become answerable, like let us see I saw those days, that day two kids running with long hair and the wind was blowing, yesterday in the evening and they looked like to me like two angels have bypassed but they were so fast, I couldn't even figure it out, that was a mischief. And certain ladies say, 'ahhhhhaaa, I love that,' and one woman said, "Aahaa have you seen something?"

I said, "Yeah I seen."

"Who are they?"

I said, "My children."

"Ahhh who are you?"

So, I love those few minutes you know I still remember it, it all happens all of a sudden, two guys hmmm, hmm that was something. Mischief means where you can cut your boredom, but not become mistakingly answerable to yourself or to anybody else. Mischief to me is a liveliness done within the framework where you can contain your prestige. Anything else, yeah. Is he permitted to speak? Has he a vote of confidence of all of you.

(Laughs)

Well let's be good.

Student: (------)

YB: Nicknames? Nicknames are nick, Nicknames are nick they are sick, telling Balwant Singh, Baab, nickname if it can be respectable, I can understand, what kind of nickname you want?

Student: (------)

YB: You mean very short, very short?

Student: Yeah.

YB: The shortest nickname of a Wiseman is a idiot. That's very short that's opposite of the polarity, nickname we do it for, like suppose we call somebody Billu, it means cat, but that's not his name. So sometime we call by a name, by God is called by a nickname do you know, what is the nickname of God, anybody knows?

Because one who can call you names is not your friend, and people will always like to reduce you, they'll call you cat, they'll call you monkey, they'll call you this, they'll call you that, because they do not want to call you what you are. What you call to each other?

When as a Proctor you are incharge of the hostel, you go to the kitchen they serve you specially because you are a leader, and he even pronounced the punishment before even I perform my duty. And I called everybody and I said to them, I said, "I have a very thankless job to do, I know you yell and scream at each other fine, but for my sake you do one favor to me, don't call each other by nicknames and by wrong names and all those philosophies you have got." They said, "But we got to call each and we are not going to guarantee that we'll call with this whole name business," I said, "All right, whenever you call anybody, shout and yell and scream, Wahe Wahe Guru , Whaa-hay Guroo A mantra of ecstasy and dwelling in God. YB: It's very easy, as I greater than myself, simply let, let the attachment go and keep the attachment you know what I have said, what did I say?
