YB: What happened to the other one?

Student: (-----)

YB: Oh yeah?

We were talking last time about the concept of death. Isn't that true?

Students: Yes sir.

YB: There is a new picture outside. Well.

Actually somebody has done a good job, I removed my picture and put that, it's really fantastic.

(Students' laughter)

Well, finally our book is going to come out in March. And if you want to have your copy, you have to contact your nearest bookstore. And ask for it now because it's not going to be sold by us, it has to be sold by the bookstore around the country. It is just one of those books which we have put out, change the basic concept of the books as it is, because this is first time it is in NaadNaad The inner sound that is subtle and all-present. It is the direct expression of the Absolute. Meditated upon, it leads into a sound current that pulls the consciousness into expansion. Yoga. So, instead of selling slander now to make people skinny which you are very good at, this is one book which can help you in cleaning people's mind.

In this country people read books that you all know. There are storybooks, there are fiction books, there are general information books, there are books in new discoveries but this is the first book in English which is in NaadNaad The inner sound that is subtle and all-present. It is the direct expression of the Absolute. Meditated upon, it leads into a sound current that pulls the consciousness into expansion. Yoga. If you open the book, take out the chapter and recite, read out, by moving the meridians of your tongue, you can get out of those areas such as depression, anger, blah, blah, blah. It's a technical book. I am going to New York tomorrow I will be back on Monday. Isn't unfortunate that in this country people do not understand what a book can do, in spite of the fact lot of books are sold and read every year.

The requirement of human mind to free itself from the fear of death is as necessary as it is required of a prisoner in the prison to achieve his liberty. Fear of death is the most highly subtle, sophisticated pressure on the subconscious of the mind of every person. You'll believe or not if we come to accurate eighty-five percent of the people who are tremendously pressured by this fear of old age and death. Fear of old age is also fear of death. You will be astonished to see people not liking their gray hairs, coloring the hair, coloring their beard and mustaches and doing kind of subtle things not to look old. It is very impossible for any person to avoid the look of their old age. If deeply you understand the psychology of people, not only they want to avoid to look old, they pretend to look much younger than the years they have got.

For example, if somebody is fifty year old, he'll like to look thirty. So he like to cut down twenty years of his life's experience. Not carefully understanding that there are many, many people who have never crossed fifty. They could never reach fifty. We don't become fortunate, 'Oh God, thank you at least, I am fifty year old.' Do you understand that? Many people have not seen the twentieth birthday. They were not fortunate to live as old as twenty. Some have never seen the fiftieth birthday. Imaginative fear of death can be seen among the human beings highly effective, highly creative and you will see majority of the people avoiding the very concept, the show of this thing. Ageing in life is mostly considered that you are nearing to death.

You have seen ladies talking, "Oh my God, you know, I am now thirty." Then what? They think at forty they die. It's amazing, amusing also how people think what value the life has for them. Wherever we should be very creatively happy, creatively happy and blissful, for the each day we live because it is each day of life is a each day of experience, we grow each day. Our caliber grows, our stability grows, our concept and conception to effectively handle the Time and Space grows. Each day living is adding a day to your living experience. But people do not look at this point of view this way. People look at the point of view of life because there is no trust, there is no self-trust.

People are not trustworthy to themself, people do not prove the trust to themself, to go out and say, 'well, wait a minute, I am eighty year old,' specially among the ladies, if you want to offend a woman ask her "What is your age?" or "How old you are?" Forget it. They don't want to let you know. Why? Have you ever asked a question, 'why?'? Because they are afraid to identify their life with the years they have lived. Everybody wants to look eighteen year old. If you look eighteen year old and you are eighteen years, then you cannot claim to have experience of eighty year.

Not trusting the life is the biggest mistrust of the self. Isn't funny? Actually the concept of death is not a concept of human living. It is actually a human victory, it's actually a human triumph over Time and Space. Therefore, death doest not mean at all seriously anything. Death is a ultimate concept, death has to,

'Kaal Khaye Sab Jagat Ko.'

'Death is the ultimate thing which shall come whosoever will live on this planet.'

So it is not something to be afraid of. It is not something to be scared of, it is not something to hide from. It is something to confront each living day is a declared victory of life over death. Each living day is a declared experience of life over death.

That's why the scripture clearly state, it is not for a living human being to commit suicide. Causing self-death is considered as a very unfortunate act. Because this is considered in the scriptures as a one of the highest immoral act for the person because person could not live.

There are lot of things which cause death and one is the weaker will to live. Weaker will to live comes from the conception of mistrust on the self. I mean, it's very funny, you look at certain person, look at their hair, you can see the hair are colored but the roots of the hair are sometime original, so you can guess well, "He looks forty-five, he must be sixty-five." You understand? So when you say, "He looks forty-five, he must be sixty-five," so you mistrust him right to begin with.

Now, there is hardly any person who can have clean relationship without trust. No relationship is durable without trust. Trust is very powerful thing in our life. Actually the purpose of life is to built trust in Infinity. But such is the wonderful world of this God, such is the beauty and the existence of this entire creativity around us that in, in the moment of our living, we forget about the purpose of living. Purpose of living is to experience life. Experience of life is when you experience the day you have lived. Day you have lived is very precious but that is the added experience to your living experience. Each day we live, each night we sleep, each morning when we get up, each dawn is our declaration, 'I am alive again. I am alive again, I am alive again in the face of death.' Some people wants challenge, some people wanted something to, some kick to grow.

If you take the history of all the people who go to Las Vegas to play those, what they call it, gambling, gambling feeds people's emotion. Nobody has ever lived or survived economically through gambling. We all know that. In economic phenomena, gambling doesn't have a place. If you read any book on economics you'll not find gambling being explained as a subject, it doesn't exist but still everybody gambles. Economic planning clearly states that a good management should avoid gambling. But in spite of the entire theory of economics, entire practical aspect of economics is against gambling, people do gamble. You have to ask this question, "Why we do that?"

Gambling is nothing but it is non-acceptance of the facility of life. Everybody knows that while gambling he is going to lose. And there is a rare chance that he may win. So people jump into the concept of that rare chance which has never come to many, many people.

Mostly people are not committed to the art of living. Most people. Art of living, art of living is a fundamental basic concept which gives you a precise attitude of commitment. You talk with honor, you walk with honor, you live with honor, you have a territory, you have a knowledge about yourself. Everybody has emotions. We have emotion, I have emotion, you have emotion, our neighbors are emotional, everybody is emotional. And when a person become commotional, then you misunderstand what for you are emotional. Commotional behavior is just like a whirlwind. Not understanding the very depth of life.

That is why GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. It can be a person, a teaching, or in its most subtle form - the Word. Guru Nanak First Guru of the Sikhs. NanakGuru Nanak First Guru of the Sikhs. said, 'Every comfortable thing on this Earth is beautiful but there is a one comfort which is the most beautiful. That is the relationship of the finite with Infinity and in experience.' The purpose of life is not what we enjoy life for. We waste life. We waste life on acquiring wealth which we never use. We acquire wealth for security. Wealth is not our security, our life is our security. So long we live, that is where security means anything. When you are dead, what do you mean by your securities or your insecurities? What do you mean by your emotions and by your commotion, that's why we meditate everyday. Each day meditationMeditation Dhyan. It is a process of deep concentration or merger into an object or a state of consciousness. Meditation releases reactions and unconscious habits and build the spontaneous and intuitive link to awareness itself. is guarantee against clean mind. I meditate everyday because I am supposed to have a clean mind, I want to guarantee that today my mental thought, my mental concept, by my mental ideology, by my mental imagination I'll have a clean day.

That's why in religion it was a ritual to, the Christian should read Bible, the Sikh should read Siri GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. It can be a person, a teaching, or in its most subtle form - the Word. GranthGranth Literally: knot: book. , a Hindu should read Vedas, a Buddhist should read the Buddhist scriptures day to day everyday. Why it was done? It was made a ritual, a compulsory situation so people can built the thought. Because there are two most powerful thing in the world. There are two most powerful thing in the world. The God and the thought. And if you want to look at the reality, God is also a thought. Until you do not materialize the experience of Infinity, God is also a thought. You can calmly and cleanly say that thought is the most powerful thing. And if you transplant the thought of living instead of thought of death, your life will become hundred fold better.

It is amazing, it is amazing that forty percent people die after retirement faster, forty percent. In one case, the gentleman got his retirement notice that 'According to our record, you will be retiring in the month of September,' it was month of April, 'So to prepare your gratuity and your service record and your money and your pension, you are required to send these form duly filled.' He expressed very happiness. 'Oh, I am going to retire,'

He went home and he calculated those forms and wrote them down and when he was going to file that initial, final initial, half initial and he passed away. The very thought of retirement when he calculated the whole thing. For him retirement was that he is being shoved away from the mainstream of the life of work. Majority of the people do not prepare them... There are certain things you must understand. You prepare for yourself for a holiday. You do not know how to holiday. That's why most of the people do not enjoy holiday. Majority of the people, if you, if you deeply understand, do not enjoy relaxation because they are not mentally prepared for relaxation.

Life in its deep concept is nothing but a meditationMeditation Dhyan. It is a process of deep concentration or merger into an object or a state of consciousness. Meditation releases reactions and unconscious habits and build the spontaneous and intuitive link to awareness itself. . Life is nothing but a deep meditationMeditation Dhyan. It is a process of deep concentration or merger into an object or a state of consciousness. Meditation releases reactions and unconscious habits and build the spontaneous and intuitive link to awareness itself. on death and it gives us the most powerful will – will to live. That is will to live is the will which conquers the death. And today we'll experience through a meditationMeditation Dhyan. It is a process of deep concentration or merger into an object or a state of consciousness. Meditation releases reactions and unconscious habits and build the spontaneous and intuitive link to awareness itself. for sometime how the IdaIda One of the three major channels (nadis) for subtle energy in the body. It is associated with the flow of breath through the left nostril, follows down the left side of the spine, and represents the qualities of the moon - calmness, receptivity, coolness, and imagination. It is associated with the functions of the parasympathetic nervous system but is not identical to it nor derived from it. Also see Pingala and Shushmana , the PingalaPingala One of the three major channels (nadis) for subtle energy in the body. It is associated with the flow of breath through the right nostril, follows down the right side of the spine, and represents the qualities of the sun - energy, heat, action, and projective power. It is associated with the functions of the sympathetic nervous system but is not identical to it or derived from it. See also Ida and Shushmana. , the left and right nostril take a rhythm and bring us always, bring us always to be victorious over our death. Now death cannot happen, you can't die until both the nostrils are not neutral. Remember this.

These yogisYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. which surmount the death, they don't surmount they are superhuman being, that's not true. Because a yogiYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. knows that his death time will only come when left and right nostril both shall be breathing at the same time. That's called neutral breathing. So long left is working or the right is working, chances of death are not possible. That is why, when people have the very perfect concept of life, they, they declare, 'Well, I am going to die now,' and they put themself on a neutral breathing and there you go. It's not difficult. But also, at this time we are not talking about dying, we are talking about living.

Let us now all sit down correctly and experience this deep meditationMeditation Dhyan. It is a process of deep concentration or merger into an object or a state of consciousness. Meditation releases reactions and unconscious habits and build the spontaneous and intuitive link to awareness itself. . This is my left hand and this is my right hand, I will normally catch my thumb like this and put myself in this very easy, graceful posture, with relaxed shoulders, chin in, chest out. Eyes nine part closed, one part open. Got it?

Yeah, you are right. Don't people, don't please close your eyes totally. Don't. But just nine parts close, one part open. Hold your left thumb in the right hand and just put it in your lap, it's a very neutral situation. And now mentally try to breathe through the, I do not know some people have a right breath working, some people have left breath working but mentally try to breathe through the right nostril. By locking the jaw, on that side you can always change also your breathing side. Try it. I have never told you this, perhaps. If you want to breathe through the right nostril, lock the jaw of the right side and just put a little pressure, you will be surprised your nostril will start helping and finally start automatically working. Try that.

Deeply pressurize and don't give an inch.

Steady your rhythm and pressurize your right side.

If you activate your right nostril and you think you have started breathing through the right nostril but don't trust it because if you are originally breathing through the left nostril you will again change to left nostril, until you thoroughly change it. If you try to pressurize your right jaw, upper and lower between your teeth, the molars and then put a pressure to breathe through the right side, you will immediately find right side starts breathing, right nostril start breathing. If you are very worst student, and you don't think it is possible to do that, then you can press the entire side right side, the entire arm, shoulder to elbow, then press against the ribs, you know. If that doesn't work, then let your left hand come and pressurize this fourth and fifth rib, right here and pressure it this way. There you go, then there is nothing else, your body can't help it, then it has to breathe that way.

You know this rib here, under the armpit and then you pressurize that and pressurize this side, then you can... It's very important to breathe sometime at your will, not all the time breathing. Normal breathing is okay but sometime you must admire to breathe at your way. And today I want you to do anything and everything known to you, to just breathe through the right nostril.

Actually when you go to clean yourself in a bathroom or restroom, you should be breathing through the right nostril.

Try, try, try, try again.

Press the right jaw, pressurize the right eyelid and put the entire concentration and pressure to breathe through the right side. Force to switch.

In spite of the irritation you are going through, try again, it's a very useful thing to learn.

Stimulate, stimulate your right side, stimulate your right, right breathing.

Now for example, sit straight and put your left hand, and close your right, left nostril. Inhale through the right nostril in deep.

(YB chants Ongg... and students follow him)

YB (over the chant): Do not breathe through the left nostril at all, inhale through the right nostril and exhale the sound of Ong. Participate with full strength.

Side B

(The chanting continues)

YB (over the chant): Try to pressurize the right side, inhale and deephale forcefully, with the sound Ong.

Don't stop, continue this pressure because we like to see how in eleven minutes you come out with.

Continue, continue.

Keep up, keep up, there are only four more minutes, heavens are not going to fall apart.

Two more minutes, keep up.

The last minute.

Inhale,

(Chanting stops)

Stretch your hands up and relax your spine and your shoulders. Stretch up, relax.

This is how it is required for every human being according to PranayamPraanayam , Pranayam , Pranayaam Regulated breathing patterns or exercises. , scriptures on PranayamPraanayam , Pranayam , Pranayaam Regulated breathing patterns or exercises. , person should do when he comes out morning after his meditationMeditation Dhyan. It is a process of deep concentration or merger into an object or a state of consciousness. If you calculate all those pulse into Time Space, according to the modern watch, you require eleven minutes. So your day should start with eleven minutes of chanting Ong with right nostril and your night should end up with chanting through the left nostril. Now this is one of the secret KriyaKriya Literal meaning is "completed action." A Kundalini Yoga Kriya is a sequence of postures and yoga techniques used to produce a particular impact on the psyche, body, or self. The structure of each kriya has been designed to generate, organize, and deliver a particular state or change of state, thereby completing a cycle of effect. These effects have been codified and elaborated by Yogi Bhajan and form the basic tools used in yoga and its therapeutic applications. which we do, which we'll practice on this Monday, but I am just trying to tell you how it'll happen. Now watch me, I do it sometime myself but technology of this I'll teach you on Monday.

It's very funny things what yogisYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. do. But almost all human being has to be united, they do it the same thing.

(YB chants for a while and stops)

(YB chants again and stops)

It's very fascinating, this is certain, what you call is, things which you have been denied. I, I now realize why people are not great; because they have been denied those great formulas, it is the Mool MantraMantra Sounds or words that tune or control the mind. Man means mind. Tra-ng is the wave or movement of the mind. Mantra is a wave, a repetition of sound and rhythm that directs or controls the mind. You want to hear it on the sound how it comes out? It's a, it is very, what they call it, intoxicating.

(YB chants again and stops)

'Nanak Hosee Bhi Sach.'

(Students' laughter)

Oh we'll, we'll, we'll do it on Monday right. That's because of the right nostril. The body heat, the circulatory power, the power to live and exist is the right nostril, it's most powerful and then to cool off, to relax is the left nostril.

Student: (-----)

YB: No, no, no, mouth has got nothing to do.

(YB chants again and stops)

Nothing comes out of the mouth, mouth has no part to play. Mouth is for kindergarten Ong, Ong, Ong, I don't understand.

(Students' laughter)

I don't understand. Om is one thing which you can never chant through the mouth. There is, there is nothing to do with that. It is right in the Trikuti you chant it here or the right side or the left side. When you chant in both sides, then it becomes that eternal sound.

(YB chants again and stops)

You can make it so powerful that you can go all the way out, provided your nostrils are clean and the process of doing... It's good to put little water through the nose and so that, sometime it's very powerful, heat comes out of that and then you start nose bleeding. So you don't want that. But this chanting Mool MantraMantra Sounds or words that tune or control the mind. Man means mind. Tra-ng is the wave or movement of the mind. Mantra is a wave, a repetition of sound and rhythm that directs or controls the mind. When you recite a mantra you have impact through the meridian points in the mouth, through its meaning, through its pattern of energy, through its rhythm, and through its naad - energetic shape in time. Recited correctly a mantra will activate areas of the nervous system and brain and allow you to shift your state and the perceptual vision or energetic ability associated with it. .

I mean, there is nothing more beautiful in the science of Yoga than chanting Mool MantraMantra Sounds or words that tune or control the mind. Recited correctly a mantra will activate areas of the nervous system and brain and allow you to shift your state and the perceptual vision or energetic ability associated with it. through one nostril. I mean, I am not kidding with you, that's true. But you know, people are not fortunate, these all beautiful teachings have been lost, I don't know what happened. We, we remember, I remember we were very young kids when we used to chant it and you know, go into kind of very high, what, what is your high is through, all this weird trips you go on and on (?) and it was very, it was very supportive, it was very beautiful. I mean to say, we at that time without knowing lot about it, we knew we are alive. What more beautiful can be for a person than to be alive? And that's, that's what you lack decision, you lack commitment, you lack truth, you lack, lack, lack, you are not supposed to lack anything, what are you lack for? But you lack the very self-trust, self-esteem, self-beauty, self.

You think you are a bunch of a creep, you are nobody. You have been told that way. Which is not true. You are a sinner. Redeem yourself. If you are a sinner, then your Creator is a sinner, then His world is sinner, then He is the sinner. Then why you want to not sin for? What is this concept that, 'I am a sinner.' Did God created sinners? You know, it is always the bad man creates bad thing, right? If you believe on one hand the God is your Creator, how can you believe also that you are a sinner? Just to get money out of you and give you five acres land in heavens for twenty dollars an acre and all that jazz? This is where religion has totally messed up the human mind. But we'll talk about it Monday right?

Everybody will be glad to understand I have decided that I'll perform my duties of teaching and giving whatever the help is required but I have also completed seven years of leave-less work, so decidingly I am going to proceed on leave, I shall be visiting the Golden Temple and I shall be visiting other places. I like to require to go for one, two months just off the record so that... If people who desire to accompany me anyway, we got the letter now that four hundredth year for the holy dip in the Golden Temple, the tank of nectar is coming, they start celebrating in the month of June, and this year we like to visit India near GuruGuru That which takes us from ignorance to knowledge; from darkness, gu, to light, ru. I'll like to share with you certain thoughts, joyful moments are very rare and rare are those who enjoy those joyful moments. My own conception is that now you are grown up, you are very beautiful people, you are very elegant, you all look very radiant and white and pretty and pure and what not. Your strength is wonderful and out of all the American movements which started in 1960 you are the strongest, well-organized and very cohesive movement but the funny thing is people think you are just regimented solid body, fact is you are very individual but outside you give such a glaring thing and inside I know that nobody knows anybody else except oneself, you know. So, but one thing most wonderful thing which we have thought, you know, his name was Ho-Chi-Minh, this north Vietnam leader, and today I do not know whether the American intelligence got that or not, he wrote one letter, a very secret communication of his. He said, 'Americans cannot win because their soldiers now do not sing.'

You got it, you understand what I am saying? He told the Americans won't win, they cannot win, what a declaration by that guy because their soldiers now do not sing.
